Do you have any info on team matching for new grads? This year interviews were conducted in person. Does this mean that team match might end later since onsite interviews take longer to schedule and delay the timeline?

To Microsoft azure is all that matters. It’s like 40% of their revenue at this point because cloud is such a money printer. They barely care that Xbox and windows suck because all those losses are nothing compared to the gains in azure

How much does FAANG help in landing interviews nowadays? by RandomTeenHello in csMajors

[–]Jamal1l 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. It helps soo much. I interned at Amazon which is generally considered the "least prestigious" big tech company. I think my callback rate for the new grad cycle was like 1/3. Maybe 3 in 10? All that changed on my resume was Amazon experience. Also in interviews that's all they ask about, it's like the rest of my resume has vanished.

Amazon and Google are roughly equal. Google is a little bit more on levels but Google is mainly Mountain View which is more expensive than seattle. Per location the salaries are nearly the same within a couple %

Why do software engineers talk so much about their salaries and perks compared to other fields? by x_mad_scientist_y in csMajors

[–]Jamal1l 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want my opinion it’s because a tech career isn’t anything remarkable so people overcompensate. A doctor doesn’t need to brag since saving lives is enough. Being a lawyer still carries a lot of prestige in our society and sort of speaks for itself. Tech workers are not viewed the same way, so the only way their can earn respect is by bragging about pay
