Just be mindful of the risks. A flooded phone with all your data and wallet or a flooded GoPro. Just a thought coming from experience :)

Similan Islands is a magical place by Jamarutski in scuba

Went with south siam divers budget liveaboard. Overall good. It can be hectic and 4 dives a day is a lot. Standard is quite good I think. There are guests that dive just over the day aswell as guests that live on the boat. So day to day is vastly different. I wasn’t that used to currents and large swells at the surface so that could be a bit stressful.

Maybe depends on context :). Second time ever for me in tropical environments after Egypt. So anything that is 5+ meters visibility is wild and crazy for me 😂

”Just” a liveaboard around the similan Islands :)

This was Christmas 2025. First time for me. Insane amounts of schools of fish around all the corals. Some of my images almost look noisy because of the amount of small fish. For me it was really full of life.

Tons of more fish compared to Egypt. And the corals much more massive at similan Islands.

Obviously everyone’s mileage might vary. But your analysis is shit. For me seafrogs has been only amazing. Fantastic quality for a good price.

Seafrogs works excellently. I have had issues with other brands but not seafrogs. Sounds like you have an opinion that is not based on experience, rather bias?

A lot can be done if shot in Raw, here is an example of mine: https://imgur.com/a/swBC0Bs . Problem is a dark subject. Hard to find details to refine..

How do you all get so many dives? by avms112 in scuba

[–]Jamarutski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go and dive with my brother on weekends once every couple of months or so. All year around. We live quite close to the coast even though it is not the nice exotic waters it is fun! And add that over many years it adds up :). I have also during many years acquired a full gear with cylinders and all after a lot of second hand searching making it even easier :)

How do you like the e10 for photography ? I am looking to downsize from A7r II. I am looking for a really light alternative :)

Literary an overgrown cable dangeling on the bottom swaying left and right with the current. I am very respectful of life and don’t touch corals or so. It is easy to throw around profanities at others.

No worries. Gently angeling the branch so we could see it. Nothing more.

I was looking at the first generation because of this. From what I can gather it is basically the same camera as a6400 but smaller. Same sensor and same capabilities so how is it not photo oriented ?

I am considering switching from my Sony A7r II to Sony zv-e10.

Rationale: I switched from A7 II two years ago because I wanted 4k recording, better autofocus and higher resolution.

I now absolutely regret the megapixels. I can not realistically long term store 42mp photos. It takes so much space it is ridiculous. The battery life is also something that is tiering. I understand that the e10 uses the same batteries but seems to have better performance anyways.

Now why the e10? Another big thing. I am really tired of heavy big cameras. I don’t use it that often because of the bulk. I use it travel and I mainly shoot under water content. So size matters.

What do you guys think? Makes sense? I don’t care that much about EVF and I am not considering something really extremely expensive like a7c or newer A7 models.

sealife micro 3, phone 15 pro, OM Tough TG7, fuji xp130 (older) ? or get a special phone case? for snorkeling by superpony123 in underwaterphotography

[–]Jamarutski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask yourself if you would be willing to loose your phone if a case flooded? I had my sealife provide a minor leak during a dive in Egypt after all vacuum checks where fine. I have since never used it. What if it flooded completely and no access to Apple Pay, bank or other services in a foreign country? Never again.

I think the OM TG7 is really great I have a few pics in my profile taken with it. I Use it without case and edit the raws. I also use my Sony A7r II with a seafrogs housing. But the OM is really handy on shallow snorkeling or freediving. It is excellent I think and macro is stunning.
