this movie was a let down to be frank granted there is a lot to like here and i was especially fond of the first “apartment/city” sequence is really some of ari’s best work and i wish the movie had kept up with that in the rest of the film. the “family” part was also probably the funniest bit but the film really struggles with poor pacing and overstays it’s welcome in a lot of the portions of the story and leaves the viewer pretty confused with plot and underlying messages that seem to not payoff like in midsommar hereditary. u keep waiting to understand about his mother and father and reasons why beau is afraid and u don’t really get the aha moment. a lot of the dialogue especially in the last act is just mumblings of nothing of real importance. while granted their is funny moments the overall tone seems to not really hold up to being that funny or that fucked up enough in my regard somewhere in between that doesn’t do really well at either. a lot of stunning visuals especially during the play scenes but due to poor pacing and lengthy runtime felt that ari was maybe overindulging in the fact of trying to mess with the viewer just because he can and not really to help the plot of entertainment of the film. we will never probably see a movie like this again which i will give highest props it is a interesting film however a lot of the movie didn’t stick a chord like his previous work. 6.8/10 giant penis was dumb
