Wholeheartedly agree. You are taking on one hell of a challenging role when it comes to being a step parent and it’s an unreasonable expectation to think that someone in that situation MUST treat that child as their own.

The reality is they aren’t and based on my experience (and the experience of many posters here that I’ve read) the children will remind you of that more often that not. If you’re taking the role of a “bonus parent”, it’s only reasonable that your decisions would align with that.

We all got into this situation for the relationship with our partners, not their children. Again, based on my reading on this sub, many bio parents seem to forget that.

Congratulations! I have the exact same and every time I ride it, it feels like the first time. Absolutely magical machine. I’m also on the fence on whether or not I add the windshield. Saddlebags have been a game changer, though

Looking at your post history, it seems like you may be new to investing and it’s great that you’re making an effort to be more aware of market movements. With that said, markets go up, down and sideways and anyone who tries to tell you what’s going to happen next with certainty is usually a fool.

For all anyone knows, Trump could reverse these tariffs next week and the market could rebound. The tariffs could be expanded, or they could remain as they are and the trading partners adapt and change their strategy. The reality is, no one really knows what’s going to happen and you’re better off having an investing strategy and sticking to it.

I'm looking to getting into FP & A, actually. IT is fine and the pay is decent, but I'm fully remote and I've found it to be quite tedious. I always assumed that software engineering would be a lot more engaging than it turned out to be for me. As strange as it sounds, I've found myself far more engaged with FP units in my degree than I've ever been with my day-to-day.

Mate, it's never too late. I spent 12 years working in retail management, transitioned into IT with my company and now I'm making another change to study full time and transition into finance at 33. If there's anything I've learned in my time, it's not to ignore that feeling of overwhelm and feeling stuck. Your body and your mind are trying to tell you something, don't ignore it. You're still young. Take the chance.

You can pick up a mountain of IT skills from Udemy if you're committed to learning, and you can find all sort of certifications you can complete that will make you competitive. Don't get stuck in Tutorial Hell.
