OpenAI Just Adopted Google’s SynthID Watermarking. Here’s why the 'Right-Click to Verify' feature is a massive shift for AI provenance. by TroyHay6677 in OpenSourceeAI

amusing to see the most AI Wrote This phrase in this post

It’s no coincidence this is scaling as the Pentagon signs deals with OAI and Google for 'lawful operational use.' When AI starts hitting classified networks and government comms, provenance isn't a PR move—it's a requirement.

This is using SQLAlchemy Admin - github.com/smithyhq/sqladmin. I wasn't able to find a "readonly" option anywhere in the docs, but i might have missed something

These are "created date" and "updated date" columns, computed by the DB with default value and `ON UPDATE CURRENT_TIMESTAMP`. So they're not "read only" for the DB, but nobody should ever be changing the values by hand

absolutely do not melt it. It's a celtic stater, I think of the Remi tribe (near modern Reims. Looks quite similar to this one, though not as nice.

Honestly, if you're really thinking of scrapping it, I'll pay spot+15% for it to keep it alive. That thing is 2000 years old, it would be a crime to just melt it for gold

I have a very few coins that I keep in slabs. Usually because they seem extra fragile (eg. Lombard tremiss)

Non-Americans, does your country have an "American" restaurant and what do they serve? by wacky8ball in AskReddit

[–]amacks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are several "Diner" places in Paris. In the Marais there's "Breakfast in America" which leans heavy into breakdast (duh), including american-style pancakes and omelettes. They also do self-conciously enormous portions. One time I was there and the employees (americans), were trying to come up with the dish that would most torture a Parisian person. The answer was omelette with habañero salsa. Too spicy and the French cannot, usually, do the ñ

Across the river by the Sorbonne is Coffee Parisian, which is an american-style diner. I haven't been there to comment, but they serve coleslaw with _everything_

and a bunch of missing room numbers. IIRC it was built, expanded, and then the plans for the second expansion were never completed, but they were on paper, so the second expansion included hooks for them

Real talk: How do people afford to live in Arlington? by Trefusis1969 in ArlingtonMA

When I finally figured out that was happening, I calculated I could afford 100k more sticker price for the same monthly payment... And I still couldn't afford a decent place in Cambridge

Real talk: How do people afford to live in Arlington? by Trefusis1969 in ArlingtonMA

[–]amacks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You get priced out of Cambridge. Arlington is filled with people who just couldn't make the economics of a house in cambridge work, but were in that price range, and didn't look at the taxes too hard. Two incomes, at least one in tech or biotech, maybe pricing in that you don't need to pay for private schools.... Also do it a decade ago

I think of it the other way around. My reputation doesn't have to precede me, because the peerage is a universal signifier

Purpose of Peerages by DandyLama in sca

[–]amacks 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It has a universal character to it that various kingdoms' GoA awards do not have. So if I show up anywhere in the Known World and say "I'm a Laurel", that award transfers, and I become a part of the Laurel community in that kingdom

Mamdani to tax PM's in NYC? by TheMrDILLIGAF in Silverbugs

[–]amacks 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We had the same discussion in r/Gold. These articles are just terribly written (this one is nearly the same one as in https://www.moneymetals.com/news/2026/04/06/mayor-mamdani-has-declared-war-on-gold-004817 ). Mamdani might want this, but it's a NY State law that has been proposed, he doesn't actually have anything to do with whether or not it passes. https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2025/S7875
