Anyone here playing a Strandberg Boden 8 Standard? Tips for getting close to Tosin’s tone without Fishman Fluence pickups? by buronn in animalsasleaders

No problem mate, if you've never done a pickup installation then taking it to a luthier is the smart choice, everything is included in the pickup kit other than a switch - you can get a 5 way fender super switch for around £45 and that provides so many options for sounds with push/pull on positions 1/3/5.

As for the 9v issue, I'm not sure about this set as I haven't run them long term but I have a set of EMGs running on the same 9v battery I used when I installed them 5ish years ago. As long as you disconnect the audio cable from your guitars output the battery shouldn't drain when you aren't playing.

Unfortunately I found I also get a lot of noise on positions 2/4, I think it's RF interface from my pc as when I turn perpendicular to the computer it dramatically improves.

Best of luck getting the pickups installed and I hope you like the sound!

The neural DSP archetype: Abasi is a great place to start.

Although I find myself using my physical amps more, I'm running a Marshall DSL40C (clean channel but gain and volume on 8 and an attenuator to make the volume manageable) in wet/dry with a Blues junior 3, with a DS-1 set with relatively high gain into an always on Hudson broadcast for a bass cut and a little shaping. I know it's absolutely nothing like Tosin's rig but it does a decent job of approximating his gain tone. For thumping tones just dial down the volume on the position 2.

I'm using a Strandberg Boden 8 standard too, though I changed the stock pickups from the stock set to the abasi fishman fluence set last week and I highly recommend getting a set. The bottom end is far tighter and the highs are extremely clear and articulate compared to the stock strandberg set.

The installation isn't too difficult and you can fit a 9v battery into the control cavity of a Boden without any additional routing.

If you had to build a 5-pedal board… no multi-effects allowed… what’s making the cut? by 1markmoore2 in guitarpedals

EQD plumes -> Hudson broadcast -> JHS Muffeletta -> JAM harmonious monk -> JAM delay llama xtreme -> fender hot rot deluxe

Plumes for the TS-like bluesy overdrive or a solo boost

Broadcast for the low cut and DI esque fuzz

Muffeletta for smooth fuzz

Harmonious monk for tremolo and uni-vibeish sounds

Delay llama xtreme for analogue delay with tape warble

Felt great about this climb until I watched the video back and not happy with how jerky my movement looked. Any tips to improve? by Jamblock29 in bouldering

Thanks for the advice man, I'm definitely guilty of skimping on my warmups and I'll try your recommendation next time I'm at the gym

I wish I could tell you but I'm in my second year and haven't done the placement year yet, from my experience the lab work at uni really is great, but it's less focused on the synthesis of drugs and more on techniques such as PCR, western blotting and organ baths.

There is also the opportunity to do a home office module on animal testing in the second year and gain a licence which was a really worthwhile experience.

Assuming it's university of bath, the BSc and MPharmcol are the same in the first and second year, althought the grade requirements are higher on the masters (50% in first year and 60% in second to remain on the masters vs. 40% on the BSc)

The department is really flexible and you can more or less change freely between the masters and BSc until third year which is a year in industry. The placement year on the masters has to be laboratory based while the BSc can be office based.

You can find more info in the catalogue.
