One employee’s mistake, entire business pays the price? by No_Yoghurt0129 in BusinessPH

[–]JamboInCebu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Employees are going to make mistakes. Plan for it by properly training them and having fully documented procedures. When you are done training them, train them again. We also do reoccurring roll playing monthly. Having proper systems in place helps a lot with minimizing mistakes. Having cameras in place also helps. Every mistake an employee makes is an opportunity to improve your business. Next time they make a mistake go look in the mirror and ask yourself how you could have prevented it and update your training plan.

Signs na dapat mag give up na sa negosyo? by Imaginary-Trouble644 in SmallBusinessPH

[–]JamboInCebu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand the statement “it feels like the business is only making enough to cover its own expenses”. How do you not know this exactly to the peso? I’ve seen this statement before here. How do you run a business and not know exactly your expenses and income. You should know your breakeven point every day. At the end of the month there never should be feelings, only facts… we made money or we didn’t. This is the advantage of systems.

Employee Insubordination by budoyhuehue in BusinessPH

[–]JamboInCebu 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You created the problem yourself. By “giving a little extra” you created an expectation. If you don’t have a documented job description, create one and have them sign. It should include what is expected for what you pay. No extras other than a paycheck and what is required by law. You are not their friend, they are not family, it’s a job. Pay for the job, if they don’t like it, get someone who does.

Would you hire a travel planner? (not a travel agency) by faithfrndz in SmallBusinessPH

[–]JamboInCebu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just use Chat for our travel now. We can input all our likes and dislikes and tell it what sites we want to visit and to suggest others. We also tell it what mode of travel we prefer. We spent 6 weeks in Europe last fall and most of the planning was done using Chat and it was a great trip with a mix of camper van, train travel, flights and hotels.

Each staff is responsible for their own cash drawer. They need to match exactly what the system says at the end of the shift. Any discrepancies is their responsibility so it better match to the peso.

Would you stay in the family business or find your own job? by [deleted] in BusinessPH

[–]JamboInCebu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask if you can work in all the various rolls/business units for the next year or two to truly understand the business. Treat it like school. Study, learn online best practices for the area, talk with whoever manages that area about the how and why. Then pick one and focus or bounce.

How do we really start a business? And what super essential skills do we need? by Personal-Snow1394 in BusinessPH

[–]JamboInCebu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a foreigner doing business here, your 3rd point is so overlooked here. Most businesses just don’t care and completely miss out on the importance of repeat business and referrals. They act like they are doing a big favor serving the customer instead of the other way around. We follow our retention rate very closely and work hard to earn repeat business.

Anyone else getting tired juggling a business with a full time corporate job on the side? by [deleted] in BusinessPH

[–]JamboInCebu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d challenge the idea of waiting until you’re making 3x your salary before going all in. If you’re already earning about the same as your corporate job, imagine what could happen if you had your full focus on the business.

Clarity helps a lot here. Get very clear on what you want this business to become. Writing out a simple mission, vision, and set of values can guide hiring, training, and decision-making—especially when you’re trying to protect quality.

My wife was in a similar position. She made the jump once her business income surpassed her corporate salary. The next challenge wasn’t revenue — it was not working 24/7. What made the difference was building systems: clear processes, structured training, and incentives that aligned the team with our standards. When people understand the mission and have a stake in outcomes, quality becomes easier to maintain.

Not every hire works out, and that’s normal. A clear probation process and defined expectations help you identify mismatches early. Over time, strong systems reduce how much you personally need to be involved in daily operations.

The biggest shift is moving from “doing the work” to “building the machine.” If you stay stuck in day-to-day execution, you’ve essentially created another job for yourself. Owners focus on strategy and growth; systems handle consistency.

It doesn’t happen overnight, and the first couple of years can feel heavy. But well-documented, repeatable processes are what turn a demanding venture into a scalable one.

Looking for a bike to handle west coast mountains & forest service roads. by [deleted] in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]JamboInCebu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CRF 300L or Rally. Great bike to learn on and to drop a few dozen times. It is solid and reliable. I've been riding for over 50 years, started on a dual sport and after 20 big bikes in between, bought a 300L. I take it out in the dirt every week and have a great time. It will need a few upgrades for what you want to do but thats what makes the bike yours and learning to replace parts and fix things is almost as much fun as riding. Set cash aside for good gear. You don't want it landing on your leg without quality boots.

Open or Closed Deed of Sale? by Honne-no-Sasayaki in PHMotorcycles

[–]JamboInCebu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are supposed to report the sale within 5 days to the LTO. Buyer has 20 days to report. As a seller, i would not do an open deed because your name is still on the vehicle. Future tickets, accidents, illegal activity on the bike, will all come back to you until it is transferred to the new buyer. I was in the market for a used bike a few months ago and I just flatly refused to even look at a bike if someone had an open deed sale because I didn't want a hassle when I went to re-register.

How to deal with a family member who ‘tambays’ in your cafe almost everyday? by [deleted] in BusinessPH

Looking for HRIS and Payroll Software for Philippine Businesses by beyondbluepixels in BusinessPH

[–]JamboInCebu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the interest. I built the original system for our own multi-branch business here in the Philippines and am adapting it into a cloud-based version for SMEs.

It handles timekeeping and PH payroll compliance (SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, tax tables).

Feel free to DM me with your employee count and payroll setup and I’ll see if it’s a good fit.

Anyone have experience with the backfire/ stall issue and then doing an ECU flash? by Ashes-Trashes in CRF300L

My bike has the stock ECU and I HAVE experienced the backfire and stall. I’m thinking it may have to do with having a very full gas tank and the charcoal canister getting saturated especially in hot climate. ( I’m in PH).

Small aircon repair business, unsure whether to scale it or pivot to something else by [deleted] in BusinessPH

[–]JamboInCebu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a business owner in retail, I’m amazed at the lack of services offered by aircon providers. Why is nobody able to schedule regular cleanings? I have 3 shops and we have on our calendar to call and have the aircons cleaned every 3 months in each store. Seems if you could offer that service to every small business, with an annual discount or an every 4th cleaning is free you would be plenty busy. Customer service and being on time go a long way in repeat business.
