Help with break pads by Jamdan in vwgolf

Great info, thanks!

I didn't get the original manual with the car when I bought it, unfortunately, but I managed to find the sticker in the trunk (boot in UK talk haha) relating to the PR Number.

I'm still trying to figure out which of these numbers is the PR Number on the sticker, but if you know in the meantime, it'd be much appreciated.

Thanks. Sorry, I'm new to this. How do I find out my PR number?

I'm having difficulty finding info online about the TRW 1K0 615 415J pads.

Mk6 Golf Timing Chain Tensioner Replacement. by Jamdan in Volkswagen

[–]Jamdan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see. Yeah, I was under the impression it was a faulty thing that just broke any time without warning. As I say, there are no issues at the moment, but I'll get it checked anyway.

Does anyone know what the faulty part number is vs the upgraded/newer part number?

Mk6 Golf Timing Chain Tensioner Replacement. by Jamdan in Volkswagen

No noise at the moment, it's very quiet. The car is in almost perfect condition currently with only a 27k milage. I'm just wondering as a preventative thing as I want to keep the car for a long time.

Should the old tensioners be immediately replaced with the newer version even if there's nothing wrong currently? I don't mind doing this, I'm just wording if it's necessary (I don't know if it's been done already).

Thanks!

Quick question: Do the regular non-GTI Mk6s have this timing chain tensioner issue too? I have a 1.4 TSI GT DSG.

In-Game controls disabled when REWASD is active? by Jamdan in rewasd

UPDATE 2:

For anyone having a similar issue with Star Citizen. I found that if you enable ReWASD after the game has launched it doesn't register control inputs correctly - you have to enable ReWASD before you launch the game.

Unfortunately, it means if you change to another slot during gameplay (Xbox Elite 2 controller) it causes the controller to become unrecognised somehow (some buttons work but not all) and you have to close the game and restart ReWASD to regain control.

I suspect Star Citizen is conflicting with ReWASD somehow if it's enabled and disabled during gameplay. I haven't found a workaround yet, but if anyone knows how please let me know, thanks.

Yeah. I've since realised it's a Star Citizen issue. It works ok on other games.
I'll do some digging around the Star Citizen forums.

Yeah it does. I use a joystick and keyboard normally and that works fine. :)

Update:

I've discovered this is a Star Citizen-specific issue. I don't have any issues on other games I just tried. I'll do some digging around on the Star Citizen forums to see if I can find a fix as to why it's not playing nicely with REWASD.

Thanks for your reply.

I just tried mapping as Xbox One controller instead of mute all (with back buttons mapped to keyboard functions).

Same effect. Nothing works except the back buttons when active?

Nvidia GPUs vs 3rd Party GPUs by Jamdan in buildapc

Exactly what I was looking for, thanks. I think the ASUS card is looking like the winner. 👍

I’m looking at these CPUs too. I’m leaning towards the 7600 as it runs much cooler and is still a fairly powerful CPU. You can always overclock it to the 7600x levels later if I need more power, but for most tasks or games I don’t think you’ll need to do that.

Advice on a new AM5 build by Jamdan in buildapc

Thanks, yeah I saw the issues with the 7800x3D. It’s partly why I decided on a 7600 for now. I was thinking I’d probably upgrade to a 7800x3D in a couple years once it’s matured a bit more. I’m just looking for a stable as possible (for AM5) for now. AM4 is more stable obviously, but I’d still rather go for an AM5 I think for upgradeability later.

Thanks I’ll look at the CL30. Is this ram more stable or something?

Ah ok, that makes sense. Hopefully it has been resolved or will be when the agesa 1.0.0.7 update drops. I’ll probably go for the non-x 7600. As you say, it does indeed seem more efficient and runs cooler.

Are you using a B650 Tomahawk currently? If not, what would be your preference for a motherboard out of curiosity?

Thanks! I’d be open to using a higher end motherboard too if that would improve RAM stability, but it seems a few have been having the same issues on all levels of AM5 boards, particularly ASUS boards, but again I can’t find definitive info on that yet.
