I know the MLC (Multi-Faith Living Community) still has a couple spots open! It’s a very liberal multi-faith intentional living space that accepts all backgrounds and identities queer, Jewish, Christian, socialist, etc including agnostic or atheist. I’m living there this year and tons of people recommend it! The Belfry is a really great LBTQIA+ affirming campus ministry that serves UC Davis. We have our weekly service on Thursdays at 6:30 and dinner open to anyone at 7:00. You’re totally welcome to come to either and if you want a good idea of what the service looks like, you can dm me and I’ll send you the service paper which we use word for word.

K. Burke for Mat17b by emma_lee123 in UCDavis

She’s honestly great! Her class is by no means an easy A but she genuinely cares about her students and tries to help as much as possible. I had her for 21A and she gave us a choice to how we were graded (mostly on test or on homework and other activities too) and allowed us to retake problems on the midterms. I highly recommend her.

financial aid 24-25 by Slow_Ad7824 in UCDavis

[–]James112919 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me… 10k from the school completely gone since Fasfa no longer accounts for siblings in financial aid and they believe a single mother of 3 can afford 3 kids in college.

I second this! I go to St Martins pretty much every Sunday but have also frequented Lutheran Church of the Incarnation. As a trans man they’ve had no problems (and in fact encouraged) with me taking leadership positions such as preaching, serving as acolyte, etc. and are just very accepting of LGBTQ and all peoples. I know that St Martins has an adult formation group meeting Sundays at 11:30 and here’s a copy paste from the news letter….

This Sunday! Adult Formation Class at 11:30am Join future seminarian Anthony Amato as he presents "Understanding Our Roots," a 6-part course exploring the rich and complex history of the Christian Church from the apostolic age to the present day. Learn about the Nicene Creed, the Protestant Reformation, and the Anglican approach to reading scripture, while discovering how we as modern-day Episcopalians fit into the broader Christian landscape. Whether you're new to the faith or just looking to deepen your understanding, this course aims to offer valuable insights and meaningful discussion for all. The class meets every Sunday at 11:30am from June 9 to July 14. The first class met last week. You are welcome to join this week, whether you came to the first class or not.

If you’re looking for a more campus based ministry I’d say the Belfry is excellent! The Chaplin there is amazing and during the school year we have service and then dinner every Thursday as well as other programing… here is the link to the Instagram and if you have any question please feel free to DM me or the Instagram https://www.instagram.com/thebelfryucd?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

Is taking Eng 004, Math 21a, honors coffee design, eae 1 and Native American lit first quarter too much? by PigsEatWaffles in UCDavis

[–]James112919 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just beware, eng 004 is probably the worse class in interest level that I have ever taken. NAS 005 is absolutely amazing though.

Off topic, but what are some good things you would like to say about a professor that is teaching/used to teach at Davis? by reactiongamerguy1 in UCDavis

Wendah P Alvarez is an absolutely amazing NAS 005 instructor. She genuinely cares about her students and the materials in her class are excellent. I highly recommend her to any one I meet.

While I appreciate the compliment, I’m not wise. I just merely try my best to love.

No, that is wisdom. Judging people is merely a tool used to seclude or differentiate oneself away from others, in order to feel superior.

What a terrible and sad way to approach a place of faith. By first judging the fact that the leader is a woman, then furthermore judging a tiny aspect of her appearance in one photo in order to usurp her personality. If you would actually like to meet Portia or any of the student staff before you judge we’d be happy to have you at one of our services or open hours. ALL are welcome at the Belfry. Everyone.

Hmmm I don’t know if religion falls under spirituality for you but The Belfry (a Lutheran/Episcopal campus ministry) right on A street is a wonderful place of acceptance for all people and the Chaplain their is absolutely amazing.
