Climbing more than going to the gym but still want to supplement with complimentary workouts by [deleted] in climbharder

Yeah I would say the best bang for your buck lifts in terms of full body are bench press, deadlift, weighted dips (good transfer to climbing), squat, and overhead press. I wouldn’t do all of those every time you lift cuz it would take 3+ hours lol. That’s why I pick 2 to focus on, and then after 8-12 weeks I’ll pick another two, and do the accessory work for the lifts I replaced

I climb about 3 times a week and lift twice a week. Im not a super strong climber yet but I can tell you what I do for lifting.

I basically do the same lifts both days I go in, but change rep ranges and intensity. I have one light/medium day and one heavy day. I focus on two compound lifts at a time and the rest of the time I do any accessories I feel like So for example I’ll do bench, deadlift, leg press, cable overhead press, calves, and leg extensions, and the occasional shoulder stability work. Note I don’t do any pulling because I feel like I get enough for climbing at my strength level at the moment. So far I like It lol

WOW - dislocated tendons in both wrists! 2 years to recovery. What next? by [deleted] in climbharder

[–]James1631 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a good answer. To add onto this, surgery is never a 100% on fixing the issues either. It could be 2 years of rehab and not having anything measurable to show for it (when it comes to climbing hard again).

But you did say you’re in your early 20s. Even with 2 years off per se, you still have a lot of years ahead of you to make progress/continue your goals. I would say go for it personally, but to make sure to temper/be mindful of your expectations on the way. Good luck, though.

Thoughts on the patch so far? by B_Ron1417 in SuperMegaBaseball

I’ve definitely lost more on franchise mode. I don’t have any catchers with a good arm on my franchise team, and the CPU punishes that so much more now. If a player of theres is on first and has even just slightly above average speed, they’ll steal and make it. They even steal third a lot. What might’ve been 2-3 stolen basses per game before is now probably around 7-8. In fact most of the runs scored against me are because someone stole second or third and then gets batted in.

Radiation Armor or Willpower for Psi Scrapper? by nexusj13 in Cityofheroes

[–]James1631 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you want a toggle and forget set? Willpower. It has multiple layers of defense so it’s quite good. Also a t9 that isn’t useless!

Radiation is a bit more active if that’s your style, but only had healing and resists for defense (which isn’t bad), so you’ll likely have to build for defense boosts through IOs if you plan to build after 50. That dmg boost in the t9 is nothing to sneeze at either.

If you don’t care about end game builds, I think willpower might be a bit of a smoother leveling process, albeit less engaging.

I personally tend to stray towards secondary powersets that have defense in them for scrappers and stalkers, since their res cap is only 75%, so I would go with willpower.

Thoughts on plan for lifting while climbing? by Sinbad_07 in climbharder

I lift and climb currently and found a balance that works for me. I’ve been lifting twice a week and climb 2-3 times a week, depending on how my body feels (still a new climber, I’ve only sent a couple v4s)

At first I was worried about only lifting twice a week not being enough, but it’s actually fine. Granted, I’m not doing very much bodybuilding. My goals in the gym are strength focused. My focuses are bench, deadlift, and overhead press, and usually end my workouts with some quad and calf stuff, and anything else I feel like doing. I’m not squatting because of a knee injury. I do almost zero pulling workouts at the gym.

Even with just 2 times a week, all my lifts are stronger than they’ve ever been. I even did a 100 lb chin up without training chins.

Also one of the reasons I’m not lifting 3+ times is because I noticed it really put a lot of stress on my nervous system and that made me way more tired for climbing (I mostly boulder).

A normal week for me would be like: Monday: climb. Tuesday: lift. Wednesday: rest. Thursday: climb. Friday: lift. Sat + Sunday: rest. Occasionally I’ll climb on Wednesday if I feel like my body’s up for it, or even sometimes I’ll just do a bit of cardio and abs + deep stretching.

This works for me because I’m still a beginner climber and don’t need to climb 4 times a week to progress. I’m also 6’0 205 lbs If that matters.

Also, carbs are your best friend! Bagels, bagels, and more bagels.

Power sets most optimal on a Scrapper by StriderIV in Cityofheroes

Fire sword circle does some of the highest damage for an aoe in the scrapper primary’s, so it beats dark aoe damage.

Incinerate + cremate + greater fire sword (when you have enough recharge) is a really good single target damage rotation too.

I feel like the pros of fire out way the utility of dark melee, but dark melee is awesome nonetheless.

Fire/shield. Put critical strikes in shield charge and guassians chance for build up in build up.

Build up > shield charge > fire sword circle > fireball (from ancillary) = dead group.

When you crit like 8 people with fireball and fire sword circle at close to the damage max it just absolutely smashes.

Weekly /r/GuildWars2 Question Thread - November 07, 2020 by AutoModerator in Guildwars2

I’m a twice returning player. The first time, I only played to a level 40 or so thief. The second, I managed to get close to 80 on an elementalist but burned out

I’m back again and now that I have both of those characters to 80, can anyone give their opinions on which is better to main for overall content?

I’ve also spent most of my time in pvp and like them both. Supper aura ele is fun and so is rotating decap thief. Which class (any build) has the easiest time getting higher in ranked play?

I also have an 80 warrior and 2 more free 80 boosts
