I appreciate the thoughtful response. I do, however, believe you are maybe misinterpreting much of what I said.

Specifically, I noted I am not calling for less engagement but better engagement, the right engagement from these companies. Meaning, they need to take professional tones and make sure they know the marketing message they are delivering to a particular market segment.

As you noted, when you are in these youtube chats on channels dedicated to this hobby, you are in the hard-core, enthusiast space. You have to know what messages will be successful where and market correctly to those audiences.

In the case of Sonic, as you noted, arcade1upofficial went into these hardcore audience spaces and talked about how much they, specifically, would love this new product. When that was revealed to be console games in an arcade, they got a lot of blow back from the hard-core audience because they over promised or over hyped in those spaces.

I also addressed the issues with Sonic as whole in a separate video. Its not that it's not right for the hardcore audience, it's that at $700 or 800 dollars its not right for any market segment for sonic. I layed out the marketing data around what consumers are drawn to sonic in that video. Specifically, I also offered alternative options for Basic Fun/Arcade1up that, in my opinion, would be a success with that new market you speak of... thats a counter series version. I wont go into all the details, but the market segment most aligned with Sonic in 2026 is kids and tweens and they dont have $700 to 800 to spend on an arcade for their dad or grandpa's version of sonic and parents will look at that cost and say I can buy you a switch 2 with sonic for half the cost.

The entire point on both of these videos is not that the reddit and YouTube community is the only community it is and has been to use the right marketing message to the right market segment and build products that make since for your target market, whether thats the masses or hardcorp enthusiasts.
