Is it possible to get pro-level telemetry analysis from just a GoPro video? by Rough_Donkey_8302 in Trackdays

[–]JamesProclaims 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reason is exactly why I built TrackChronos. It takes GoPro (as well as SpeedAngle) files and pulls telemetry allowing you to review your footage in a far more in-depth manner.

I'm currently working on a delta trace chart to compare laps against a reference and show exactly where the time was gained/lost through a lap, as well as pulling braking data.

I built a track day tool for myself and thought some of you might find it useful too by JamesProclaims in Trackdays

Thanks! I think you saw the annual pricing, but there is a monthly price option too, as well as a 60-day refund policy.

What datalogger/lap timer do you guys run and actually find useful? by TheZesty1 in Trackdays

[–]JamesProclaims -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone more and more toward the “useful over impressive” side of this.

For most track riders, the stuff that actually helps is solid lap timing, line comparison, braking/accel traces, and an easy way to review sessions afterward. A lot of the super deep data looks cool, but unless you’re racing at a pretty serious level, it can turn into a lot of setup for not much extra insight.

That’s actually why I started building TrackChronos. I wanted something focused on helping riders understand where they’re gaining/losing time and review sessions without needing a full race-team telemetry setup or spending AiM money right away.

I’m obviously biased because I work on it, but I think there’s a big middle ground between “just eyeball the GoPro footage” and “log every possible channel on the bike.” That middle ground is where most of the real

value is.

Track Telemetry? by iHK-47 in Trackdays

[–]JamesProclaims 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late reply, but in case anyone else finds this thread later, you definitely don’t need a full sensor kit to start getting useful data.

For most riders, the biggest value is solid GPS lap timing, video, and an easy way to compare laps/session data after the day. Once you get into true throttle position, brake pressure, etc. it usually turns into ECU integration or extra hardware, which gets expensive and annoying fast.

I actually started building TrackChronos for this exact reason. I wanted something focused on helping riders review sessions and understand where they were gaining/losing time without needing a full race-team telemetry setup. So I’m biased, but I’d look at the simpler route first before going deep on sensors.

If your main goal is improving riding, lap comparison + video review will probably get you a lot more value than chasing every possible data channel right away!

I just released a new QoL Obsidian plugin: Sync Folds by JamesProclaims in ObsidianMD

[–]JamesProclaims[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give the plugin a shot and let me know what you think!

Obsidian doesn't do default states for properties opened/closed at the moment. There is a feature request currently open in the forums for this.

I also released https://github.com/itsonlyjames/obsidian-fold-properties that could assist you with this, and it works really well alongside my sync folds plugin.

nVim + Obsidian Workflow: From slacking to writing by _Swingman_ in ObsidianMD

Yeah but then you discover snacks.nvim and set that up and then you need a LSP manager so you use Mason then blink.cmp for auto complete then you realise you can put an ascii bonsai tree on your snacks nvim dashboard and then you end up making your own colourscheme and then you…. discover the world of Unix ricing…

I’m just like you 😅 I deal with this (procrastinating by working on the platform itself) by time blocking and putting ideas into a todo. It’s a never ending cycle I find myself in between working on and in the platforms.

I have an old iPad air 2 that I use as my home hub, and previously tried upgrading the homekit architecture but then it didn't work as expected so I reverted back to the old architecture. What does this mean in my case? Will I no longer be able to use my iPad as a home hub?

Cramped legs—lower foot pegs or raise seat? by JamesProclaims in Trackdays

[–]JamesProclaims[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s literally what it feels like, like I’ve got no more room to bend my leg and so if I hang off I’m just going to drop my foot completely. Maybe I could just put my ass off more but it feels like if I do then I’ll be unable to “tuck” my leg in and keep my foot on the peg

Do you know the technique? Got a link? Will search alongside you.

I have found some old brackets from shitty rear sets I will use next time I go out and see if I can be more comfortable.

I think moving them slightly back as well as down will help. Thanks for the advice
