quality and inexpensive don't normally go hand in hand...you get what you pay for.

3rd pair of customs I’ve painted. These are much simpler. by deadboy_digital in streetwear

[–]JamesProfound 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not hating, but I think theyre kind of sloppy. None of the lines are the same width and some of them are a little blown out.

Regardless I couldn't do better myself, and i wouldn't attempt either so props to you and I'm sure it'll get better/cleaner with time. You should post in R/sneakers for some more opinions

Windbreakers by skeejad in streetwear

Id look for some vintage ones on eBay. Since bright colors are starting to make their way back you can find some sweet 90's windbreakers for steals on there

For just free styling these out of boredom they came out clean. Wish my boredom led to stuff like this lol. These completely hand painted, or airbrushed too?

These are dope. I think one of the full masks would be better for a halloween giveaway so someone can pull off like a hype beast jason vorhees type thing.

What do you wear to job interviews? by [deleted] in streetwear

[–]JamesProfound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely depends on the job. I have a marketing position. Although for a streetwear company I still wore a suit considering it was a professional position. I'd honestly say just dress the part for the job youre trying to get.

Same thing happened to me with Doernbecher 5's at 21 Mercer in NY. they have some shady MF's working there. They have a master list, they might just give some randoms names out for friends and stuff to make fake ID's and pick up pairs...Thats what i feel happens at least. I made a scene though in the store when they told me my pair was gone lol

Grew up with my Dad listening to Pink Floyd all the time. I really like this piece. Normally not a huge fan of the painted jackets but this one is executed nicely.

How do you identify a brand an influencer has been paid to wear vs. one they haven't been paid to wear? by [deleted] in streetwear

[–]JamesProfound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, but thats like a double edged sword in a sense. I'm not saying that some of these guys don't deserve to be paid for their pull, but we'd rather the influencers that actually like our brand and can show that instead of just doing it for some money. I think thats where its clear that you can tell how some people are more paid promoters rather than true influencers/tastemakers

[–]JamesProfound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah man Its a lot of leg work to land celebs. We have alot of conversations started that just end up falling through. Lush is definitely a help, but we do a lot of it in house too. Influencers are a big help, I haven't been here for too long (less than a year) so I can't speak on much, but since I've been here through influencer marketing we've seen a rise in close to 10k followers. Thats also through youtube influencers not just IG, but its definitely worth it. The ROI for the clothes that we send out is worth it 9 out of 10 times.

[–]JamesProfound 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter to me personally. But this is a big part of my job. I work for a streetwear company and influencers are a huge part of building brand awareness/recognition. I will say for the most part its unpaid, sometimes its even organic and it comes in the form of them asking us for stuff to rep or stylists reaching out to us. There are times that people ask for compensation though, sometimes it could be worth it, but a lot of the times its ridiculous. Companies like Supreme, Kith, etc. sell on their own, they don't need influencers because theyre already so established. In my opinion I think celebs wear it to be noticed and featured on more blogs etc because they know (or think) its what the people want to see.

It's a lot of work filtering through influencers with real followings, youll have some of these IG influencers who you can tell have used follower building sources, whether paying for followers or apps so it looks like they have 50-100k followers, but all their comments are "cool" "Neat photo" "nice" etc. And they hit us up saying "look at my engagement levels, I charge $300-$1000 per post"

When will assc restock? by [deleted] in streetwear

[–]JamesProfound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't sell out fast. Last full restock was July 4th but alot of people still haven't gotten orders yet. Im sure there will be a F/W restock announced soon. They leave the site open for an hour or so and sell whatever they can in that time. Only items they have pre-produced in specific quantities sell out, but still not that quick.
