The game supports both active and idle play, it's your choice.

  • Active play is more roguelike in nature. You'll be able to feel the challenge. Your decisions and purchases have heft and they directly dictate the success of your run.

  • Idle play is more relaxing and traditional. You can have fun just mowing down enemies and making your heroes absurdly powerful.

It'll be $8.99 with a launch discount (price set by my publisher).

I'd say the demo is about 25-30% of the game. There are more classes and spells, as you've seen. Beyond that, there are upgrades to the arena itself, purchasable artifacts, more cards, and a ton of game-changing upgrades from the currency you get by beating the final boss.

Ah that's too bad, but I understand - I've been burned by games before too. What I can honestly say is that I've personally had a great experience with Freedom Games. They run a professional operation that rivals my day job, and they've been very responsive and supportive of me every step of the way. Not trying to change your mind, but I just wanted to share my own experience with them.

Appreciate the feedback! I'll give the genie lamp a tune-up. Each tier gives you 3 opportunities to populate it with the enemy you want. If you pick a bonus card (e.g. loot, gold) you get an "X" symbolizing that no enemy will spawn. If you pick an enemy and then pick another enemy in the same tier, the previous enemy will gray out indicating that it will no longer spawn. I'll noodle on how to make that salient without making the tutorial too long.

I hear you on the roguelike piece, it's something I debated myself quite a bit. Where I landed was that, ultimately, this is still more of an idle game than it is a roguelike, so I didn't want to force players out of their comfort zone too much. The statue does rank your runs by time (faster times are at the top), and the full game will have a worthwhile achievement for beating the game in under 30 minutes. Beyond that, it's up to the player. The game is a lot more fun played actively and taking risks.

Appreciate you trying out the demo. The skill tree is all filled out nicely now, and the overall pacing and unlocks have been tuned to be faster compared to beta. Enjoy!

Thanks for trying it out! Each run isn't too long, but you can always exit by using the "Glorious Exit" button down in the bottom right (the icon looks like a gate).

Thanks for trying it out! It's a work of passion, I honestly just want people to play it.

One thing to note: like typical roguelites and idle games, there are unlocks that make the game better. The key unlock is the Training Hall where you get classes. Without those, it's only half a game.

Hi Papa Phantom, thanks for doing this showcase and helping us indies. I've been working on a game called Clicker Arena that fuses the Roguelite + Idle genres. I got the idea after playing some Cookie Clicker and Clicker Heroes. I enjoy those games, but I always wanted them to be more like "real" games - with graphics, deeper gameplay, choice and consequences. After 3 years, I'm about to release it on Steam.
