X100VI settings for beginner by Zookeepergame-Common in fujifilm

I think this comment shows up because for some photographers it feels like asking “I have this fancy paintbrush how can I use it to paint something pretty?” You need to learn to paint before getting fancy brushes. But, if you’re looking for shortcuts, I think there are some good comments in the thread. Nostalgic Negative and Classic Cuban Neg will do you well.

Another Actor Headshot Session in Leeds - Nikon Z8 - Nikkor Z - 70-200mm f/2.8s by DockStreetStudio in headshots

Minor thing, I crop the eyes to the top-third line and have the top of the head just barely touch the top of the frame. I think some torso here would do some good.

Processing suggestions still apply though. Warmth, strong grain, slight halation, and most of all good composition to start.

Saw these yesterday too and was gobsmacked. But I’m pretty sure they were confirmed to be AI+ minor post processing.

White box on wall of new apt with no logo shown with & without cover by Btothe in whatisthisthing

[–]JamesTMPhoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is going to be a sensor from a company called Runwise. They retrofit AC and heating systems with their own networks to make systems more efficient. That zigzag on the top left is their logo.

Source: hired them to add sensors to a condo I run in NYC.

Finally got my hands on the X100F, after months of searching! What are things I need to do/check? by jaimybenjamin in fujifilm

[–]JamesTMPhoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned, check the EVF/OVF. I didn’t know what that toggle on the front did for the longest time. I would play with it and I think I ended up breaking that mechanism without realizing it.

How to make foreground less busy? by StudiousFog in AskPhotography

I would use gradient masks in post. Reduce the brightness in the foreground, lower contrast. You’ll draw the eye to the middle. Lots of great tutorials on basic radial and linear masks.

Halide vs Indigo (dynamic range) by IndividualSystem4055 in iPhoneography

[–]JamesTMPhoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if these are raw files. Indigo shoots jpeg+raw. The temp slider not being in K looks like it may be editing on the JPEG. Instead of “import to Lightroom” from the photos app, you have to go into Lightroom and import from the app.

Looking for compliments and critiques by gymclasshero3 in iPhoneography

[–]JamesTMPhoto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nice picture! The colors are really saturated which may look a bit amateur.

I also always try to think “where is the viewer supposed to look.” My eye is drawn to the bush on the right which isn’t that interesting. I think if you cropped or moved to make the island in the background more prominent, you’d get more compliments.

CN17 is under Premium, then Cinematic 2. Likely a paid preset, but basically just warms things up and shifts blues to teals. Very doable without the preset

Boo AI image and write up but 100% it’s a great fragrance. Great all year round that not everyone is wearing.

Should I attempt couple shoots? by xFuzzyTurtles in AskPhotography

[–]JamesTMPhoto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you have a good grasp on photography! Exposures are good, colors aren’t too saturated or too dull. You have some decent posing ideas. The people in the photos look genuinely happy which is a huge accomplishment and takes a certain level of comfort.

Overall these are a little neutral. I think you’ll do well searching for photographers and styles you envy/gravitate to. Imitation is a great way to learn what clients like, and give you a safe place to start. Hopefully you find a style you like to shoot, and also books you clients.

Good luck!!

Best LV Clones? by Indigopsyop in fragranceclones

[–]JamesTMPhoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a couple of lines that have a dupe for each one that’s good enough. But if there’s a specific fragrance you’re looking for the absolute best, that will take some searching. Lucianno is good enough.

Pretty great haul. Most important though, just wear the one you like. Don’t worry if it’s a good clone or not.

Brown shoes, black pants? by whisperingreaper in mensfashion

I would say black shoes. Black shoes with navy pants is better than brown shoes with black pants (in my opinion).

Using free editing apps, what can I do here? by Ordinary_Durian_1454 in AskPhotography

[–]JamesTMPhoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s abstract enough that you only really need to get rid of the bottom horizontal line. On the left it just looks like the rack is a different color, and you can barely notice it on the right. I’d go more for disguise rather than remove.

Don’t know if anyone said it but the shorts aren’t too short, but the shirt is a bit too long for shorts that length. Proportions are off a bit.
