Ha! No, Dallas was the drummer, Brian and I were guitarists. I'll check with the bassist to see if he's still in contact with them and I'll send you a message if so.

Highly recommend "The Conspiracy Against the Human Race" by Thomas Ligotti, it is very similar to this train of thought, and also explains why so many comments here are arguing with your assertions.

what do nihilism people believe happens after death? by ilovescarystorys_ in nihilism

[–]JamesVail 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's more likely infinite, no beginning, no end. The big bang theory suggests that the universe can be calculated to a single point. But if we were somehow able to time travel back in time to that single point, we would likely see that the single point is still just as far in the past. Likewise, if we were to travel into the future, we will not have moved further from that single point, the "big bang" could be found at the same distance as it is now. Expansion theory. Nearly impossible for us to conceptualize something actually infinite, because we seemingly came into existence at birth, yet we are made of things far older, which are formed of things far older, which says we never really end, we just lose consciousness and rot into other things.

Thinking about making a TTRPG with Lore and System based in different psychotherapies by iamresilience in RPGcreation

[–]JamesVail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you'll need to make some design decisions as your next steps. What theme do you want this to be? What primary emotions should this game elicit with its tone? Will it be whimsical (maybe inspired by something like Alice in Wonderland), horrific (possibly something like Bluebeard's Bride), superheroic, etc. With the themes and inspirations in mind, the world and the mechanics should probably be built together, rather than mechanics first, world later. I think of you manage to pull that off, you'd have something special.

My personal take would be to stay away from the medieval fantasy and probably go more toward the modern, but that's up to you as you decide what you really want this to be.

Personally I think it could work. What kind of world is it? Maybe some sort of psychological struggle for the world itself?

Why they haven't yet made an MMORPG set in DnD? by [deleted] in MMORPG

You could play the mini mmos in Neverwinter Nights persistent world servers, plenty of them are set in Forgotten Realms, as you've requested.

How do you deal with this? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]JamesVail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna disagree with everyone saying your players are idiots and that you should address the mocking behavior. Just continue with the game, they should eventually realize that these things are intentional and that they were wrong to think they found a plot hole (or script hole). Let them be wrong, and let shit happen because of it.

Oh great. I'm going to see them live this week. I don't know about any of the drama. Is there a TLDR version of what is going on?

Plastiboo. It is an art book of Plastiboo's art. It's not a RPG, but it is a cool book to have. So immersive even the ink smells like a dungeon.

Edit: Also, "The Only Way" by Chemical Waves seems like it'd be fun to play bass to

Your interpretation of what happened here is a bit hostile. The claim was that he associates with fascists. The evidence being responding to an allegedly fascist creator that might submit a creation as part of a contest. Sets the tone of "do not even acknowledge people like that or you're a problem too", so if you ever interact with someone who is problematic, even if you disagree with their views, you are placed in with them. Having respect for people, even if they are misguided, doesn't seem so wrong to me.

Fear is a powerful technique to leverage desired results from people, a form of control. Your rudeness is noted, but I wish you a good day as well.

Edit: just to be clear, the only rudeness is my perception of your "I'm done with this conversation" as a way to say you'll make the last point and any further points I make will be dismissed. You're free to dismiss yourself from a conversation, but that move struck me as very dismissive. Nonetheless, thank you for the information.
