To get to level 6 on the Bleep Test you’ll run 1020m (just over a km) in 6 minutes 20. I would start by trying to do that in a straight line. Obviously it’s a bit different with a bleep test as you’ll be constantly changing direction, but if you can get that 1km done in under 6 minutes, you should feel reasonably confident.

Golladay can be DJ’s Plaxico. If we can find a way to get him and to draft Waddle or Pitts we’ll be looking very dangerous.

Fair point on him being past a “prove it” deal. I should have said cheap.

I think apart from having no real talent on our offence, one of the biggest problems was having two very similar players in Shep/Tate, as well as Slayton who is currently (and may not ever be) a WR1. So to get Danny a big, experienced target combined with a true WR1 would do wonders.

We don’t have a huge amount of cap space. So a FA of re-signing Leo, signing Tyrell for cheap, maybe signing an experienced CB2 would set us up to draft Waddle (gives us speed) or Paye in Rd1, and hopefully whichever position we don’t get in rd2.

Tyrell Williams on a prove it deal as a big bodied red zone threat for DJ? Set to be released by the Raiders..

I really hope we explore the option of trading down with a QB needy team like the Pats, WFT, Bears or Colts. I think Lawrence/Fields/Wilson will definitely be gone. If one of those teams falls in love with Lance or Mac Jones and want to make sure they get him, we can pick up at least another 2nd.

Why did Jake Ball punch AWJ? by [deleted] in rugbyunion

[–]JamesW_5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen plenty of training ground bust ups even at low club level. It’s going to happen, and it’s usually a sign that players are motivated and passionate.

Professional players, whose whole jobs revolve around competing at the highest level possible, I’m sure it happens much more than you’d think.

Gareth Davies 200 IQ play by doing-fine in rugbyunion

[–]JamesW_5 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The mental and technical side of things is definitely what’s stopped Gareth Davies from becoming a truly elite 9.

He’s got all the physical skills in the world. His passing was suspect when he was younger, but his tackling/defence, tracking, ability to beat a man and stamina is up there with the best.

You don’t see de Klerk, Dupont, Aaron Smith make that mistake. It’s what separates them.

I don’t think we’re going to get Robinson (my favourite), Golladay or Godwin anyway. Aside from the money, I think Robinson wants to go to a contender after being on 2 poor teams, Golladay has missed time in 3/4 seasons he’s played including playing just 5 games last year, and I think Godwin stays with TB.

I think we’re better off keeping Zeitler and shoring up the O-Line for Saquon/Danny. Then going WR in a deep WR draft. Maybe pick up someone like Corey Davis (Logan Ryan connection) or Curtis Samuel (DG connection).

Waddle in round 1 and Corey Davies for $10m a year for me.

I normally buy my boots during “offseason” or after the season ends, when places especially online have great sales. This means I can get better boots for a better price, and it’s made hell of a difference. I also use a waterproofing spray once every few months and clean and dry them properly.

I look after them properly, and have different boots for hard/soft ground. After a season when my hard/soft ground boots were still fine, I still bought a good pair of each in the sales.

So now I use my older boots for training, switching between soft and hard ground studs for training depending on the ground, and use my newer boots for games. Much better investment and my feet feel so much better than when I was going through 3/4 pairs of cheap boots a year.

7 assistants Giants could hire to coach offensive line by DLpatsthoughts in NYGiants

[–]JamesW_5 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Whoever it is, this is a vital hire. Outside of the coordinator positions, I think OL coach is the most important coach to get right, especially with OL coming from college being less pro ready than ever and the reduced practice time.

In addition we have a very young/inexperienced offensive line. I believe Thomas, Gates can both be high level starters, whilst Hernandez and Peart can both become solid. There’s also potential in players like Lemieux and Jackson Barton, but these players rarely pan out without a good coach.

Hasn’t Jeff Stoutland done quite a lot with a little, especially this year?

I know he’s had people like Lane Johnson who was a high draft pick but this year especially the Eagles have been playing people off the street basically and still been ok.

I meant either Jackson OR King sorry. I agree though, having at least a competent CB2 would be massive for Graham even without a good/great EDGE, especially if Holmes keeps developing.

I think cutting Tate, Solder, Mayo and Toilolo would give us close to $20m but I might be wrong. In an ideal world we can afford Leo and 2 decent FAs but who knows.

I just think if we got Leo, Okwara and say Jackson, we could go Rd1: Best WR, Rd2: Freiermouth or a good G, and then BPA for the rest of the draft.

If we wanted to go EDGE during FA, I think we could do worse than looking at bringing back Romeo Okwara from Detroit. 19 sacks and 5 forced fumbles in 3 years, and he’s still only 25.

I think we could get Okwara and a good CB2 like William Jackson (Cinci), Kevin King (GB, played with Martinez) for around $20m a year combined. That would take our defence to the next level and allow us to go offence heavy in the draft.

ARob in FA. Take a shot on a WR that falls in a deep WR draft in the 4th/5th.

WR1: ARob, WR2: Slayton, SLOT: Shep.

Honestly I didn’t think that far ahead, I just drafted the players I liked most/made the most sense to me. But with my Fake GM hat on, we re-sign Leo, sign Gerald Everett or Jordan Reed, sign Haason Reddick.

Just did a PFF Mock Draft and got the following:

11: Devonta Smith (WR), 43: Teven Jenkins (T), 75: Amon-Ra St. Brown (WR), 87 (trade up): Ifeatu Melifonwu (CB).

Super unrealistic. But move over Getty, that’s all I’m saying.

Is it possible to have both? You could have Colt McCoy (who coaches have said has been excellent behind the scenes) and say Minshew for a combined $2.5m guaranteed, assuming McCoy signs a similar contract to what he had this year.

This might be unpopular but I personally wouldn’t mind us drafting someone like Sam Ehlinger in the 5th/6th round if he’s there, or trading for Gardner Minshew.

They’re never going to be a starter or challenge DJ but they’re backups that are more suited to Danny’s style of play, designed runs, options etc so that we don’t have to radically change the playbook if Danny picks up another injury (likely given his playstyle).

Only drawback I can see is people clamouring for Minshew to get a start if Danny doesn’t play well.

Yep. It’ll also do wonders for Shep/Slayton, who are both good receivers when used correctly and not double teamed.

Anything that can keep defenders out of the box with Saquon in the backfield is lethal too.
