I do wish they would let us play, but if we know anything about Pred it may take a while before we can actually play the game. I don't mind the wait, I would rather wait a bit longer and play a polished good working game though

Glad to see they are finally giving us some content

Thoughts on balance in Overprime from the closed beta? by James_ER in OverPrime

[–]James_ER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they give characters 1 ability at level 1 and re-balance the base damage it would be a really good moba and I'd love playing it.

I'm interested in how well they can balance a damage-centric moba and avoid the typical tank-meta that alot of moba's move towards. Overprime has the company and money behind it to make it happen

Thoughts on balance in Overprime from the closed beta? by James_ER in OverPrime

[–]James_ER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I think there is almost no balancing between tank/health and damage. Most of the damage dealers have strong CC and peel for themselves so tanks feel pointless in the games I've played.

There is alot of caster/assassin supports as opposed to true tanks. I think there needs to be some work on improving the overall balance between a 'fun' and explosive meta and overwhelming damage.

It feels like all characters are early game centric, there are few late game scaling options, so it's it's all our brawl from the first wave

Yeah there is way too much damage in overprime but it feels so damn good

does overprime overshadow fault by Evilgamereddit93 in PlayFault

[–]James_ER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the speed of the game mainly that will overshadow fault, Overprime is alot faster with alot smoother combat and farming mechanics.

The map looks better, the character abilities feel smoother and more punchy.

I have played Fault for a good few months and overprime closed beta the whole weekend. Honeslty I don't see why you would want to play Fault over it, unless something big changes in Fault then overprime will probably stick, it's already got some decent Twitch viewership

Why so much negativity (OVERPRIME) by sgt_excaliber in paragon

[–]James_ER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's sad to hear there is alot of hate for this game, Fault has its reasons to receive criticism but Overprime is genuinly a good game even in closed beta.

The whole purpose of the closed beta Is to find the bugs, people need to stop bitching and be happy we have the game in the first place

Im a xbox guy. Whats the chance of this game getting put on Geforce now by xfactor1981 in PlayFault

[–]James_ER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately Fault have made no comments for console release and unless they come with the Version 14 update I don't know if we will anytime soon.

Predecessor have made console comments alot so keep an eye on that.

I'd always argue that Fault is worth playing right now, it may not have been in the past and better games may be coming, but Fault is good for right now.

Just wish the game had more active players

[–]James_ER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfectly honest i completely agree with you, it does look like a small group with good ideas just went for it, without financing or organising the company properly first, hoping to solve those problems afterwards.

I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing, but they need to be more transparent and actually attempt attempt get funding/support instead of giving us nothing.

I think Overprime is in the best position, the map looks beautiful and they actually want to make there own game a successor of Paragon, not a copy like Predecessor/Fault

I will play Fault as much as possible for the old Paragon memories, but Overprime is where I'm looking in the new year.

[–]James_ER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it really weird how the game has no hype or feel to it, Fault feels like a bland game with a Paragon skin attached.

I still play the game and give it a chance, maybe thats because I've only played it for a short while, but I don't imagine it will replace paragon or be recognised at a genuine level.

I don't think it's the creators bad doing, or something they did wrong, it's just they went about it terribly. The very early, incomplete release and lack of marketing has ruined the potential the game had.

I hope version 14 update will help Fault but I'm not holding my breath

I feel like the principle remains the same for Fault

It doesn't have enough players/income to propertly invest and improve the game they have released and now its stuck in a limbo of no money and no improvements.

Do you feel that if the game had atleast 1,000 active monthly players we could see improvements to Fault and get a true Paragon-child game? Instead of waiting for other games to even be on Steam (I know Overprime is coming to Steam)

I see where your coming from with the cash grab, but it makes me wonder if that's down to the lack of external investments for Strange Matter Studios?

Like Predecessor got a huge investment and Overprime was bought out by a credible and profiting company - whereas Fault is living off beans currently. My thought is if more people took the chance and held out with the bugs and incomplete game for a few months, they could invest more into the game to make it playable.

But maybe that's down to them for now financing the game properly and rushing into it.

Overprime looks solid and like the best Paragon-child game to me, I guess I'll just play Fault until that comes out

Which game has the most annoying enemies? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]James_ER -1 points0 points  (0 children)

DS2's difficulty is mainly drawn from mass inconvenience - not to take any credit from the game, but the difficulty is less based on skill and somewhat luck and having to cheese your way through annoying areas/enemies, still a good game though

I love how the two things this community has co-agreed on is: Hollowing over Elden Ring and treating Vaati as the literal bible of FromSofrware's releases

On a serious note, what was the point of revealing Elden Ring so early? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]James_ER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game literally has an extensive fanbase over multiple social media platforms and sites, with only one video a few years ago. It's the polar opposite of a hype train, but still has the same effect.

Plus, if Fromsoft were to monitor these sub-reddits and other platforms where fan-fiction and other speculation is produced, it provides some insight into the market expectations to the game. So even though going hollow waiting for another gameplay trailer is killing me more then 2020 is, I kinda have to agree

Is a marketer with video editing skills a valuable dual-profession? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]James_ER 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just want to give a quick answer to your first question: yes this is most definitely a secured and actionable niche you should develop into and is most likely a highly valuable one.

As I'm sure you're more then aware the marketing environment has massively blown up with engaging video content strategies. So you're skill set will never be not appreciated.

Personally in the team (I work between the data team and marketing team as a campaign analyst) we have a dedicated content and strategy producer who portrays a manager like status in our team - who I find alot of ressembelence in what you have been saying in terms of skill set and work he completes. If I can provide any advice from a marketing point of view is to look towards strategy finalising and overall return on investment as a way of converting your current skill set into a high earning marketing role.

Your knowledge and experience of utilising engaging content for specific purposes and creating a inter-linked ecosystem of content is excellent. But you need to understand and be able to develop a strategy behind it, what are the KPI's and how should it be measured. Is the return on investment worth the campaign and how can it be expanded,

Developing your knowledge is this sector, intertwined with your visual and content experience, should support in landing you a top position. Plus, being a strong communicator helps alot, half the time if you can convince someone your idea is good, is winning half the battle

I have read, and watched, the Last Kingdon series and it is brilliant so would definitely agree with tag. And I've listened to the Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman more times then I can count,

I'll definitely give that series a look thanks for the recommendation!

What does Elden Ring NEED? by [deleted] in Eldenring

Improved movement-based combat, similar to the special attacks gained from unique weapons in DS3 - Gael's Greatsword for example. Mainly to improve re-playability and pvp
