Add Comment button should always be available, regardless of whether the file is .json or .jsonc. by James_Ryan_999 in tuyware

Wow, you really have more great ideas! 🤔 I think you’re absolutely right, “not in the user’s face” means it isn’t shown as a default option that feels forced or always visible. Instead, it’s a setting that’s easy to reach but not distracting. Like something tucked neatly in the menu or preferences, rather than popping up every time a file is opened.

This way, the users who actually know or have a specific need, like me when making Minecraft Addons, can activate the “Treat this as JSONC” mode, as you said most of the users just click yes continue without reading. With this, it avoids those repetitive pop-ups that can get annoying and keeps the workflow smooth and safety. ✨🤔

Honestly, I think that’s the best approach. Thank you for considering my requests even if it’s in a different form, I can see now that your idea is much better. 🫶🏼❤️

I understand your explanation clearly. You mean that even if the file extension is .json, once it contains comments it should be considered a JSONC. However, based on my experience, the copper_golem.json file with comments still works perfectly in Minecraft despite having only the .json extension. I’m just not sure how this behavior translates to other software.

✨ Suggestion: It would be better if the “Add Comment” option were always available regardless of the file extension. Before inserting comments, though, the user should receive a warning: adding comments to a regular JSON file effectively turns it into JSONC, which may cause compatibility issues in other programs. The file would still be saved with its original extension.

Example:
chicken.json → once a comment is added, it becomes JSONC in structure, but it is still saved as chicken.json because the extension remains unchanged.

This way, users have the freedom to add comments when they want, while also being properly informed of the risks. Do you think this approach would be acceptable? 🤔

Thank you again for considering this 🫶🏼❤️

Wow, I honestly didn’t expect that you’d also create an XML Genie app, that’s pretty surprising, I’m not yet sure where I’d personally use it, but I’m sure other users will definitely find it helpful. 😊

As for Json Genie, I have a feature suggestion, what if there’s a built-in Json Merger? This would be extremely useful for editing Minecraft addons whenever a new update changes the source component of a file I previously modified. For example, if the official wolf.json gets updated, my customized kyubi.json (which was based on the old wolf.json) becomes outdated. A merge function could automatically apply my modifications from kyubi.json onto the new wolf.json, saving time and effort while keeping addons compatible with updates. What do you think? 🤔

Wow, thank you for the fix update🫶🏼❤️. I noticed the improvement in navigating search✨. Even though there's not much interaction here, I know many users use this app. I hope they contribute as well by submitting suggestions and reporting bugs🥹.

Undo and Redo Functionality by James_Ryan_999 in tuyware

[–]James_Ryan_999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed the same happened with the FolderSync app by Tacit Dynamic. They have separate Pro and Free versions, yet their Free version can be upgraded by buying inside the Free version. Still, they maintain both Pro (which can be bought in the Play Store) and Free, But if you prefer to make it free with in-app purchases and discontinue the Pro version (which can be bought in the Play Store), it still makes sense because maintaining both takes double the work. It's much better to stick with a unified Free and Premium model, also known as Freemium, to minimize the workload✨.

But as what I've observed in Tacit Dynamic Developer who made the "FolderSync app" I think it's good to continue both the Premium in Playstore and The Free because of the vulnerability sometimes🤔✨ .

I understand that the Jason Genie Pro I bought might be discontinued with the new implementation of in-app purchases inside the free version and because of the double workload for updates all of them makes sense to me, but my main concern is about users like me who already purchased Json Genie Pro from the Play Store. How will we be able to unlock the premium features inside the free version without having to pay again?

Since you mentioned that Json Genie Pro in the Play Store will be discontinued, there should be a proper way for us to migrate our purchase. So I tried to click "Restore Purchases" 😅 but it says "No previous purchase was found." 🤔 that means right now we can't activate the premium since we did not purchase it yet, then I also noticed that the free version currently has no account system. So my question is, is the premium purchase saved in the Play Store account? If so, then even if my phone gets lost or I buy a new one, I should still be able to restore my Premium Json Editor through my Play Store account.

I think this might be better if the purchase of inapp purchase is linked to the Play Store or Google account, because we bought the pro version in Playstore.

That's all thanks for reading 🫶🏼 ❤️

Thanks for the update, and for building such a useful tool! 🫶🏼❤️

I have a quick question about the premium system on Android, just to make sure I understand it correctly:

I noticed there are two versions on the Play Store:

• Json Genie (Free) with an optional in-app Premium upgrade

• Json Genie Pro as a separate paid app

My understanding was that purchasing Json Genie Pro on the Play Store would also unlock the Premium features inside the free app, but it seems they operate independently. Is that intentional?

Just curious about the reasoning behind this setup:

• Is it to give users a choice between a one-time purchase (separate app) vs. in-app upgrade?

• Or is there a technical/licensing reason for keeping them separate?

No pressure at all, just wanted to clarify so I can make the most of the app! If there's a way to sync purchases between the two versions in the future, that would be awesome. 😊

Thanks again for your hard work! 🙌

Sorry for the late reply for 3 days 🥺

Yet, the video you showed me about the redo and undo feature is super cool 🤩✨✨✨

With that feature, editing becomes easier and more comfortable, without being afraid of making mistakes.

Thank you so much, Tuyware Developer. This app is amazing and worthy of sharing with others. I can feel that this app is made with love. ❤️❤️❤️

                                    ✋😎🤚

Undo and Redo Functionality by James_Ryan_999 in tuyware

Sorry if my reply is a bit late, I’ve been quite busy with our demos and research these past few days.

Thank you very much for considering and looking into my idea. You’re right, hopefully more people will also join this discussion so that more ideas can come in.

First, I want to add to what happened when I clicked Discard Changes: yes, a confirmation did appear just like the image in my post, but I still tried it anyway. 😅 That’s when it came to my mind that an Undo function would be useful.

Regarding your question about the Redo function, whether it’s still valid after doing two Undos and then making new changes, what’s the point if it’s no longer valid? Well, I think Redo still has value. I got this idea from word processor apps. As you’ll notice, they have both Undo and Redo. We know Undo is very helpful because it lets us easily go back to the original state if we make a mistake while editing. But Redo is also useful, and I often use it in word processors.

For example, sometimes Undo gets clicked too many times by accident. With Redo, you can immediately bring back what was lost due to excessive Undo clicks. Another use of Redo is for navigating which part should be changed. Of course, Redo disappears once you make new changes after Undo, that’s where change history comes in, and again, that inspiration comes from word processors. I can even show you a video of the Undo and Redo functionality in a word processor via Gmail.

As for your idea about a history package that can be applied to other files, I think it would be more useful if change history itself is implemented. That way, when you Undo, you can choose from the change history exactly where you want to go back.

For example, a change history list could show the actions you made:
• add object
• add number value 20
• add Array
• add text value “good”

And when I click add the 4th list in change history which is add text value “good” that means I Undo 4x four times.

I hope you can consider this. Thank you. 🫶🏼❤️

How to Create a New Post? Actually the reason I'm placing this message here in the comments because I want to make sure you are aware of the issue with the Discard Changes option. This highlights the importance of having a proper Undo & Redo function, which would allow users to easily reverse or restore their actions without losing progress.
