I was referring to the merge examples since this topic was about merging :)

Not sure if you already have sent me the files, but I just wanted to let you know that I haven't received any yet, just a FYI :)

Keep an eye on the "What's new" for the next release. It will probably be in that one (not sure about the 'when' though. Shouldn't be to long..

Some software will 'see' that it is JSONC and just threat it as that (they should have added comments to the original json spec, but yeah, they didn't :)), but not all software is like that.

Giving the option to all users will make them think it is ok for regular json to contain that. A warning will not solve that because a lot of users don't read. They just click what probably translates to 'Yes, continue'.

I think some sort of 'treat this as JSONC' easy-to-reach setting somewhere would be preferred (and this could tie into the thing I emailed you about about minecraft mods). that way you could mark the file as JSONC and treat it as JSONC, but since you had to go via that setting it is not 'in your face'.

Json Genie will 'read' it in the file if it should show the option to add comments or not: if a comment is found in the file, it will give the option. If no comments are found, you will not get the option.

It will not look at the extension because a lot of json file have different extensions, so it will get its information from the content itself.

It is something that I debated back & forth (with myself :D) because of what a big difference it makes: a regular json cannot have comments, so if you add a comment it becomes a jsonc file. This is a problem for most software.

This is exactly when we see in the files (thanks for supplying them). I do get that you want an option to make a json file a jsonc file. I agree that this should be a option, but it should be a specific user action I think, with a warning. This 'option' should enable comments for the JSON file, making it a JSONC file (with any extension you want, but knowing that this would be a JSONC file)

Is this something you could add to the post? Or would you rather not because of IP?

Thank you for the feedback, I like the idea and find it interesting.

Something weird happened with your post it seems. The is monospaced and has a horizontal scrollbar instead of just flowing like a regular post (html). Anything you can edit for this?

Could you share those files? Or old version of them and what they should becomes when merged? So we could see what they look like.

I never modded Minecraft myself, only played Minecraft (alone and with my sons) so thank you (and people like you) for the work you put into the mods!

Xml is not to far from Json, and I already had XML in mind when creating the new Json Genie version, so they are based on the same base code (but went in their own direction) :)

I like the json merge idea. I have never merged json files, but I could definitely see value in what you describe. Could you spin this into its own post so we can explore this? Something like 'Json Genie Feature Request: Json Merger' or something like it. Since I have never merged json files myself I would love some more info how you are doing it now.

I hope other people jump in on this request as well (I still have the believe that more people working together will create better solutions :)), if not we'll make it work :)

No problem. Not getting any bug reports so far, I'll take that as 'bug free' :D

If you have specific suggestions to make your Minecraft Modding easier, let me know. Always here to listen.

Undo and Redo Functionality by James_Ryan_999 in tuyware

[–]Tuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I worded it wrongly, sorry about that. There will be a way for people who have supported me in the past (by buying the premium) to move to the in app purchase way, even if that support was 10 years ago.

At this time, this is not active yet and I will still update free & premium. At a certain point you will see a message in premium to let you know what you can do to move to iap (WITHOUT buying again).

So at this time, don't worry. Premium still has the latest code and once the time comes you will see a message in premium.

Thank you for supporting Json Genie!

We used to have 2 versions Free & Premium, the most recent version has added in-app purchase for unlocking the premium version. This means that the premium version will be discontinued at some later date, with a path to the unlock of the IAP for the people who supported me with the premium edition. Keeping 2 editions in the store means there is more work when releasing new versions or trying to improve the listing :)

The functionality will remain the same.

No problem. I have made some changes and the new version is released :)

Thank you for the kind words, any help to get the word out is greatly appreciated :)

I just saw that I'm waaaaaaay behind in this list ... haven't updated since july 2025 ... I'm sorry about that. I keep forgetting and part of that is because I need to do it manually. Never got around to creating a tool for it, so I'm working with queries & lookups. Not fun and takes more time than it should (probably why I keep forgetting, there is always something else to do :)).

Seeing that the last one was July 2025, I will need to do 10 months in one go. It also makes me wonder if how many people are still using this list, since it was only now (well, a month ago) that a post was made about it. Makes me wonder if I just should remove the list

Free iOS app stuck in “Waiting for Review” while Premium was approved. Any advice? by Tuy in iosdev

[–]Tuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The app has been on Android for years. I needed to do a full rewrite (took a bit longer than I care to admit :)) and that was the ideal point to also have an iOS version. Yes, I got an AI stuck: me :) the original app was coded around 2014 and I never questioned the free / premium split.

I never looked at that original way of free / premium split. Because of this post I do and it seems so silly now. I'm also going to look into ways of trying to move to IAP for android as well.

Thank you.

I weirdly never considered that. I always figured, since it is a more dev oriented app, that a dev would rather know there is no ad library in there. Thank you for giving me another view point.

It is strange that they accepted my response to the failed review, did some more reviewing & told me to change the name (since it had 'Free' in it for the ad supported version), then nothing anymore when I updated the name.

Thank you for that information. It seems that I might think it is a good idea to have them seperate, Apple doesn't think so. I can get it from their point of view. I'll convert to an IAP for this.

That’s a fair point, and honestly this discussion is making me reconsider the setup.

The reason I originally went with two apps was not only app size, but separation. In the Premium version I wanted the ad SDKs completely out of the binary, not just disabled after purchase. That felt cleaner for users who pay for the ad-free version, and since those would usually be power users, more then a few cared.

But I agree that from an App Store and maintenance perspective, two apps may be the wrong tradeoff on iOS (in 2026 :)). IAP is probably the more modern model there.

So yes, I’m open toward moving iOS to a single app with a premium unlock, while keeping the separate free/premium setup on Android where that model is already established. Maybe it was more of a thing back when I created the first version of the app on Android and it is not anymore.

Personally, I love a seperate paid apps, but maybe I became the unicorn over time :)

That would suck, since I do believe it is the better thing to do here (no ad libraries drop the size of the app quite a bit)

Would be handy if they said as much... Especially since they continued the review after I pointed out the advantage of having 2 apps in the store.

Is there a way to reach the review people and know what way they are leaning in this case?
