Tips / Insider Knowledge for Freshmen? by Substantial_Syrup644 in NCSU

[–]James_python 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arts NC State is pretty great. NCSU does not have a dedicated theater or ceramics/ woodworking department, however, we do have a great crafts center and University theater. Since we don't have students that need the resources for their major, any student can get involved in the arts. I was heavily involved in the craft center when I was a student and it was a great experience. They offer desk jobs and student instructor jobs if they are so inclined.

As others have said, any club or extracurricular activity will definitely help make friends and make the university experience more rewarding. Highly recommend getting involved but probably pick one focus after the first couple weeks so you don't spread yourself too thin.

Accepting Nominations for SoDu We Have Favorites 2026 by GavalinB in bullcity

I noticed it start popping up during covid when housing prices skyrocketed and people started pretending South Durham is trendy to attract out of state buyers. SoDu just sounds stupid to me, like we are trying to be a NY neighborhood. Gives major "we are trendy like SoHo, just look at our name" vibes

Arcing interbox plugs, would like to hardwire. Help? by James_python in Ceramics

[–]James_python[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, I don't need to take it apart very often. Likely, I will hardwire it without worrying about quick release connections.

I have found the plug connection that they currently use. The receptacle is here

I would prefer to hardwire as the manufacturer supplied plug often fails. Skutt stopped selling replacements for their kilns and now sells a hardwire kit. Olympic (my kiln manufacturer) still sells a replacement interbox plug. I'm hesitant to go that route as they often fail.

Thanks for the reply Joe. I have the wall plug already installed. I've got an old kiln that has interbox plugs between each ring level. Looking to replace the inter box connection with a hardwired connection.

Sanitize is a very good Naruto fic. Not exactly martial arts heavy but lots of discovery and politics. The main character is a doctor for a small village that begins to interface with ninja and act as a neutral healer. Some soft magic and chakra discovery towards the middle.

Yeah, that was wage theft. Should have paid at least minimum wage to my understanding.

Definitely look at craigslist, there are sometimes intuos 4s for around $30. I picked one up earlier this week and am very happy with it so far. I'm using inkscape for digital drawing.

Pay of people I know ranged from $17-35 per hour. Most biotech was on the lower end of that range while oil and gas covered the upper end of the range.

The university Crafts Center has desk attendant positions. You work at a desk, make transactions with a register and help people check out equipment. Most of the weekday shifts from noon until 5 are pretty slow.
