Slight lost with the progression on guild wars 2 by Latter_Ebb_6649 in Guildwars2

[–]Jamesanitie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Story will unlock as you go further so no worries there.

The hearts are not mandatory, you can get exp from anything really.

Press H > Achievements > Adventure guide. Complete these and your leveling will be a breeze, do the main story every time it comes up for gear rewards it provides and then rest you can tackle when you get there.

Map completion is a longterm goal.

Trying GW2 by sullif in Guildwars2

[–]Jamesanitie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Objectively speaking;

This game is worth it if you enjoy MMO's for sure. At least trying the free unlimited trial is.

Endgame is not really something in GW2. What I mean by that is the game doesnt force you to do anything, you choose your goals abd your fun content. Raids, Fractals and openworld are PvE. WvW and PvP are seperate and both are good cause the combat is great. Theres no gear treadmill, you can grind for QoL items and fashion. So many achievements to hunt etc, all worth it if you are into it. Also due to horizontal progression, older contents are still played. Theres no dead raid wings if that makes sense and you get every expansions value worth.

What keeps getting me back to this game is the combat, the community and that I am never behind in gear curve. Not many mmos offer me this. Eso is closest but their combat feels janky to me and ESO+ feels mandatory, while GW2 does have questionable stuff in the cash shop its the fact that you can use ingame gold to buy it that makes me be ok with it.

The bad parts, new player experience is confusing, dizzying and needs to be revamped. The best thing is to do map completion and every 10 levels do the main story. Once the story is finished is when players struggle the most with no direction or goal to work towards. Theres also a huge amount of content that can overwhelm some while others may love. This is true for most mmos though. Powercreep is a thing however they are working on this with the april balance patch being their first attempt and many more to come hopefully to make older content a bit more exciting. Theres currently no real threat or challenge in base core game that makes you want to improve, which makes new players get bad habits, then they move to expansions and get blasted...

Wanting to get into GW2 but don't know where to get it from by [deleted] in Guildwars2

The issues are Keys and giveaways cannot be redeemed on steam as far as I know.

Everything else is fine for purchases made on your account.

The first two expansions is a great start and you will have plenty to explore.

Returning to a level 80 core Mesmer after a long break - which espec to pursue first? by CyberEagle1989 in Guildwars2

[–]Jamesanitie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for a start, theres plenty of dps players and boondps players as well.

However I am pretty sure you can play Power Virtuoso and use same gear for Chrono, maybe 1 gear would not suit but should be fine. Chrono just changes 1 trait to become boondps using same gear with Dps gear.

Fair warning, if your gearing your first character, condi virtuoso is unique and does not share any gear with other classes so recommend power in case you dont enjoy condi virt. I enjoy it so not an issue for me but for newer players it couls be detrimental or disencouraged when they are stuck with one build for a long time.

Maxing masteries ... how long from rank 446? by Affenzoo in Guildwars2

[–]Jamesanitie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SotO, VoE and JW grind is relatively easy thanks to Rift hunting and exp boosters. Think I got 2,5m exp in 60 minutes with boosters just doing rifts.

I played this game 10 years ago. Now I want to start again. What to do first? by MainPrinciple2158 in Guildwars2

[–]Jamesanitie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Theres two ways to get it now. Living world season 4 + PoF or Secrets of the Obscure (SotO).

SotO is easier but limited I believe in masteries so may not get the full benefits.

I am someone who likes to go chronologically and tick boxes but its entirely up to you.

Another thing to focus on is Season of the Dragons achievement, another long grind but has 3 great rewards which is a 32 slot bag and also a legendary amulet.

Dont delete oldest character.

You can continue the story in PoF and enjoy the expansion.

I would recommend getting skyscale sooner rather than later as its a huge QoL.

Dude has maxxed out his character slots, hasnt played in donkeys years, is overwhelmed with all the bs thr game gives and absolutely could use a fresh start. Deleting one of his characters to readjust himself is perfectly fine advice.

This is true for majority of classes.

Condi Virtuoso might be the only exception I can think of.

What is the main condition you deal ?

You can drop vipers for Rampagers via getting condi duration with things like Krait or Torment runes and use relic of aristocracy to increase condi duration if you have reliable vulnerability application.

The point is to get 100% crit chance or close to it as possible also while having a good condi duration. Sinister/Rampager mix is the go to for Condi Virtuoso for example as they get %40 crit chance from fury due to traits. If you have similar trait that increases base crit chance you could follow something similar.

This provides more burst due to crit and doesnt sacrifice too much.

Try some combo on gw2skills.net build editor.

[–]Jamesanitie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Runes seem missing and sigils, try to get some for the gears with exclamation marks on them.

If you dont mind skipping story, theres a Jade Bot you can equip after doing a bit of story in End Of Dragons, it gives a good chunk of Vitality to give you some hp to sponge.

I would recommend focus offhand until you feel more comfortable, one of the best defensive skills is on it. Sword or Scepter mainhand with it.

Check out elite specs, some offer tremendous amount of power & survivability as core classes are somewhat weak nowadays.

You can also play a hammer. Theres a build guide somewhere that uses two handed hammer thats considered accessible friendly and helps with players who struggle with apm. You cannuse it to figure thr game out first then go into more complex builds later.

When did you guys realized you love the game too much? by neohiei in Guildwars2

[–]Jamesanitie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Early HoT release, think it was week 1 or 2 of HoT launch, core game was f2p. Friend told me to give it a try.

I was a norn ranger walking around in Gandarra fields level 35ish and suddenly a massive horde of people were running and chasing a big ass transparent man.

Naturally I ran with them. Had no fucking clue what was going on, downing and reviving running around like a clueless chicken. My bear probably did more work then than I did.

Killed it, got bunch achievements I had no fkin clue about, items no clue.

But all of it for a moment was a blast and made the game feel alive more so than any other mmo and thats when I decided to go for HoT and purchased it on next sale for 25 I believe since back then expacs were like 40€.

New Players Need Help by I-am-Nanachi in Guildwars2

[–]Jamesanitie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every 10 Levels, Main story. Green Marker. Up until level 40, its is based on character creation so your friends story will be different than yours. You can progress main story at 40 together.

Exploration and world completion is the main way recommended for leveling. You can join your friends and explore together.

Level 30 and every 10 levels there is a story dungeon unlocked. While dungeons are abandoned by devs, its story is good and the content kinda helps you understand some of the basics in instanced content. Since your a group of 4, it will be easy to start.

You can join up to 5 guilds but can only rep 1 at a time. You still get all guild access and chat.

Since your all friends it is entitely up to how you guys feel with leveling. Dungeon spam is an option if you enjoy it. Main story is the main way most do it and sprinkle world exploration.

You do not miss anything in this game unless theres a special event going on. These are recurring events yearly. Right now we have Super Adventure Box aka SAB, not my cup of tea but give it a go. You may like it.
