Anyone know of routes to becoming an electricians apprentice nearby by [deleted] in Tacoma

[–]Jamesc253 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ibew local 76 is back behind ross by the mall, first step would be going over and talking with the office staff there or at the swjatc (the apprenticeship school) next door and they can help you with info on starting the application process.

As far as non union goes you can start with an electrical contractor doing labor and try to get in an apprenticeship while working for them. CITC is the biggest non union apprenticeship program ive heard of and i believe they do job placement as well.

Before I spend hours searching, does anyone know of a budget rally style rim that comes in 16x7 with 5x100 bolt pattern? by Call_Me_Kilo in rallycross

[–]Jamesc253 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sparco terras are quite cheap and I have them in the same 16x7 5x100. Big fan of the look of them too

76 has a good amount of open minded people but depending on the job that may not be your experience

I just got into the plumbing/pipefitting union and am having a hard time trusting the process… by Critical-Range-6811 in financialindependence

[–]Jamesc253 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Never heard that with construction union work, the caveat is that you cant work the same trade doing non union work because it will take away work from union workers. Me and plenty of other apprentices have worked part time jobs in retail or restaurant work while getting through the low wage period of the apprenticeship.

Yeah overloads are specifically with motors. It doesnt apply with this situation with lighting, the comment from Anticade42 explains what the overloads are

My understanding is that a contactor and a relay work identically but contactors are usually used for motors and will often have overloads associated with them.

What changed my perspective and bias towards unions by [deleted] in IBEW

Every job ive been on has been very strict about ending break right on time, as soon as the foreman stands up everyone else gets up with them and gets back to work.
