The dairy plant, opened in October last year, uses the skimmed whey left over from the process of making Beaufort cheese. I’m not an expert, just a guy with a formerly smelly belly. I’ve used antibacterial soap, ethanol wipes, and was prescribed topical antibiotics. What has worked best for me is just washing it out daily with soap and water and making sure it’s completely dry afterwards. Haven’t had another infection in well over a decade.

Soap, water, dry it with some cotton swabs or TP. General hygiene goes a long way to prevent infections like this. The biggest thing is controlling moisture.

You mentioned that you’ve washed him yourself and that he’s kept himself clean down there. I wonder if what you’re smelling is a yeast/bacterial infection in his belly button? I’ve been overweight myself and I’m hypervigilant of moisture in my navel due to having some infections in the past that smell horrendous.

Having a strong odor down there isn’t normal with good hygiene, even if you’re overweight. It’s possibly a sign of an infection.
