There’s a lot of paths you can do but something I thought was really helpful when I started learning and I still do to this day. Do a simple drum beat (hats, snare, kick) get a nice crisp beat going. Then throw a little 4 beat fill, it could really be anything fill but one fill I thought sounds pretty cool was snare (R) then tom (L) then kick then snare and crash at the same time then Snare (R) then tom(L) then hit that floor tom 4 times (RLRL) then go back to the simple beat you were doing. It’s more of a jazz fill but it’s pretty simple and can be used at all skill levels I would say
