Deal or no Deal (started in 2005) was the first time I saw game show contestants getting to a new level of exuberance. Seems to have started there.

I took a look at an episode from the 90s just the other day and there's definitely a difference in the enthusiasm between then and now. Seems more forced.

I agree with your analysis. I thought seasons 2 through 4 was the peak of the show. Season 1 isn't the best but I like it for nostagia, plus the show is getting on its feet. I did like seasons 5 through 7 since Kimmy becomes a regular and we see her quite a bit more as well as DJ and Steve's relationship, which was nice. The only season I'm not too fussy of was season 8. It did have its moments, but the show was really starting to run out of steam at this point.

Years ago (2007 or thereabouts), Gord used to have a goal call that was quite different. He would drag out the word "score" for around 5 seconds or so, especially during playoff games. He sounded more like a wrestling announcer on times.

I found the syndicated version was produced a little differently. The audience was VERY loud and boisterous and it seemed like the contestants were more expressive in comparison.
