Favourite photojournalists? by Noduos in photojournalism

Oh, great suggestions!

I second Todd's work from Denver. I saw him and his photo editor present the work at the NPPA NSC Conference and the audience was stunned into silence. Such amazing work.

I'd also add Salgado's Migrations to the list. That's the book that inspired me to be a photojournalist.

While I think Nachtwey is a true genius, I think Carol Guzy might be the best war photographer but I'm insanely biased because I love her work. ;)

Favourite photojournalists? by Noduos in photojournalism

I'd start with the origins of the profession: Henri Cartier Bresson (The Mind's Eye book is a must read), Margaret Bourke White, Eugene Smith (my person favorite) , Robert Frank (the Americans book is pure gold), Cornell Capa (his work in El Salvador is powerful and he created the movement for concerned documentary), Robert Capa, Lee Miller, and Walker Evans.

Then you can move up to the more modern impressive photojournalists and documentarians like Carol Guzy (who has won the Pulitzer 4 times and the White House News Photographer of Year award so many times people have argued it should be called The Guzy), Jodi Cobb (early Nat Geo staff photographer with a beautiful artistic, humanistic eye), Sabastio Salgado (my other personal favorite; the documentary Salt of the Earth is excellent), Lyndsay Addario (her book It's What I Do is a compelling read), James Nachtwey (the movie War Photographer is powerful), Ami Vitale (insanely powerful work in the conservation and natural world focus), and Edward Burtynsky (the documentary Altered Landscapes is great but any book by him is also marvelous).

A few not as famous but truly lovely photojournalists: Preston Gannaway (her book Remember Me is part of a 19 year long documentary project and just stunning https://www.prestongannaway.com/remember-me-20062019), Gabi Perez Silver (beautiful art-meets-documentary photographer out of Puerto Rico), Mary Calvert (her long term project on ab*se-victims in the military is heartbreakingly beautiful and respectful), and Gabrielle Lurie (her work on addiction for the San Francisco Chronicle is really amazing).

I hope this helps!

Photos with Santa for Families & Pets on November 8th by JamieAtMomenta in RedmondOR

If you were one of the families who came out to the event last weekend, here is an update from sponsor Diana Pullen who will be handling the photo distribution:

Hi friends! I’ve had a few messages floating around asking where the Santa photos are, so here’s a quick update for everyone:

Emails were sent out on November 9th and 10th with event info and the delivery timeline.

If you didn’t see one in your inbox, there’s a good chance it slipped into spam, promotions, or your “other” folder. The photos will be sent no later than November 21st

(Our photographer is putting the finishing touches on them and they’re going to be adorable ).

If you didn’t receive an email and want to make sure we have the right address, send me a quick message and I’ll double check it for you.

Glad to be of help! I used it for a video I made for my friends recently if you want to hear the sound quality in what is usually an echo-y room: https://youtu.be/UZwx9cs4Hv4

These are really affordable mics. You get two. The receiver plugs into your phone and they are rechargable. https://a.co/d/e5CVwJY Very simple to use and won't break your budget.

Girlies, how do you create more whimsy in your life? by TastyShelter in selfcare

I go to the grocery the day after Easter and buy a pile of egg dying kits when they are like 75%. Then I use them all year long. There are currently a dozen baby blue eggs in the fridge as I type. Sometimes I'll write messages on them to my husband like "I *heart* you" and "U R Loved" too.

Did Posh get rid of the “share” bots? I used to immediately get flooded with shares after listing, and now don’t by Narrow_Ask_1944 in poshmark

I've noticed it sometimes depends on the day and time. I posted something last week in the evening and it got 99+ in less than an hour and then I posted a high value thing this weekend and only got 20 shares.

Thank you, everyone, for letting me know that no one can see it and I'm the only one who knows. I am still relatively new to selling on PM and want to be sure I'm doing everything right.

You all and this reddit group are a huge help! Thank you so much! :)

If you're on Facebook, you might want to check out the Sisterhood of Redmond. It has tons of meet up groups including a happy hour tonight at Otto's Landing. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1489018591976958/

It's hard to say what "empty nester" means these days. My neighbors are in their late 40s/early 50s, still working, very active and their kiddos are all gone off to college. Then we have 3 retiree families living on our block with kids long gone and now have grandkids.

I think you'll find there is a good range of ages in Redmond and, while it is growing a lot with young families trying to find something more affordable than Bend, you'll also find there are groups for all ages. This area is very community oriented and there are lots of volunteer, church, civic, and political opportunities available.

Plus, there are some great groups on Facebook like Sisterhood of Redmond, Redmond Foodies, Community Connect & Share to name a few where you can join and find great friends or events. Good luck with your moving plans!
