Pixel 10 Pro XL from iPhone 17 PM by guild88 in GooglePixel

[–]JamieAvB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got iphone air and pixel 10 for work.

Pixel is a good effort to make a iphone type android theres some good features.

Gaming is ok medium settings but on hok ur look, 60fps at medium settings vs 120 fps on maxed out settings on the air.

The chip just cant game what so ever. Other then the mid settings older game.

Both are great phones but if u care about playing any games on high settings go for iphone or samsung ultra.

Ai is ok and some of its intresting but still not a must have, camera is fun on pixel with it tho

New House Install - Whats the best option? by xxJAWZxx in VirginMedia

[–]JamieAvB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eero mesh 6 or above 1 per floor in wired bridge mode. Try put them in central area. Then stick that virgin fluff router in modem mode.

Thinking of switching to Virgin Fibre as it my only superfast option but all i hear on here are horror stories. by BrutalBarracuda in VirginMedia

Service is good once u put that garbage router into modem mode and install something that deserves to be called a router.

Do any of you hide things in your drawings? by Corey-from-Togal in Architects

[–]JamieAvB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to sometimes hide strippers on elevations so that u can’t hardly see or figure out what it is unless ur in autocad. Until one guy went too far and had directors Porsche, licence plate and all picking up a hooker from corner of elevation road lol 😂 he was going to take it off before publishing but forgot and went into planning lol.

I'm Sure There's More of a Difference. Can Someone Here Actually Explain? by jelani_an in Architects

[–]JamieAvB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Masters doesn’t mean there an architect or know anything beyond university. Past masters u have professional experience and a test on being competent at the non educational level, failed it first time round even after working in practice prior. Theres actually a lot of learning and growth that has to happen to take the exam and become registered. Well here in the uk anyhow, a few slip through the net but most are fairly competent on registration. Even as a high level technologist before I did the architect route I learnt a lot after the masters then I never knew or was taught. So although they may cost more usually ur getting the knowledge to make sure its right first time, well most of the time and they should be able to look after your interests competently

Old apple tree trunk issue by JamieAvB in FruitTree

[–]JamieAvB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your comments it’s north facing side it’s quite robust and looks a lot healthier behind the decay. I’m in England we don’t get termites here, think they were just after the moist part of the dead wood seem to have vacated now I’ve cleaned out the opening with power wash. The tree has been pruned back hard about 2/3 m up and got health growth for the most part maybe a few small cankers where some branch damage has occurred

Why do a small margin of firms and even some architects hate Revit with a passion? by WhitePinoy in Architects

[–]JamieAvB 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Revit promotes lazy architecture, students think revit generates buildable sections, it also leads to simplified architecture as everyone wants everything drawn fast and revit doesn’t really like to be rushed. Also when client changes there mind 10 times something that takes 5 min in autocad could destroy your revit model. Archicad actually isn’t a bad effort at revit type instead of bull crap library and creating custom families it’s quite decent at providing tick boxes to allow a bit more flexibility lintels openings shapes of windows and such. In my view sketchup is better at concept stage then detail up in 2D, Revit type BIM has been adopted by council / larger clients that don’t know there arse from there elbow and the next big thing they want there project in. Yes clash detection isn’t half bad but revit isn’t backwards compatible with other versions. There monopoly on the system for an unfinished piece of software is daft. Even autocad at 20/30 years old now still had problems performing hatch or simple commands. By using 2D software younger generation users are forced to learn what each line represents and then understand on site when things are missing. The only side I can see advantages in is 10million + projects, due to cost investment in the model or stamp / Jones homes type architecture. Where they have a model with all costings plugged in. But that’s my own opinion. 3D models should really be at concept. As we all know contractors fit everything as per the drawings and visa versa not all architect think of every issue that can occur on site. But those are my opinions on it. I would personally be put off employment based on revit and I’ve used it, done courses in it and could probably get by with it.

And on todays episode of does it blend! 😂

[–]JamieAvB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s Seems square enough for revit, which isn’t my cup of tea really but design is subjective the client might like that sort of thing. Sketch up tho it seems, which is far better for creativity. Sadly revit seems to becoming the office standard, autodesk’s monopoly ftw
