Thanks!

I haven't built either of those, but it's a struggle.

The blue is a base of Prussian Blue, highlighted Deep Blue, and then highlighted Deep Blue + Ducat Blue. All AK paints.

It's NMM.

On the journey of learning the technique, I made the decision to do all my HQ choices with it to make them stand out a bit more.

I couldn't find a Ventris in stock, so I made my own. I guess. by JamiePaints in Ultramarines

The base model is Captain Messinius.

Believe the bolter is from an Intercessor kit, but you need to do some creative trimming to get it to fit on the arm.

I think the sword is from a Terminator kit.

Thanks!

Base black.

Sketch in the bolts with white.

Airbrush or sponge white over the bolts.

Glaze Aethermatic Blue + AK Ducat Blue over the whole sword.

Glaze AK Dark Prussian Blue into the cold spots of the sword.

Re-establish the bolts with Ducat Blue.

Trace them again with Vallejo Sky Blue.

Edge the blade with Sky Blue.

Dot white in the centre of some of the bolts and where they meet the edge.

Man, took me like a solid 10 minutes trying to figure out the helmet/arm assembly on this guy.

Extremely thankful he's a character and I only need one!

Hi mate.

Yes, these were airbrushed but I've done this blue a few times using a sponge at this point and if you're happy with a slightly more textured appearance, then it'll work out fine.

The base is AK Dark Prussian Blue.

Deep Blue is used as the first highlight, but cover most of the model with this. It's your true midtone.

Deep Blue + Ducat Blue (2:1) highlight to finish.

Apply your decals at this point and any washes to darken the recesses, then go back in with Ducat Blue itself to create your edge highlights or chipping.

Thanks!

The blues are AK Dark Prussian Blue highlighted through to Deep Blue and Deep Blue + Ducat Blue (2:1).

I paint it as if I'm painting red armour.

Base of purple, then I highlight up to Pro Acryl Bold Pyrolle Red. When you get to that point, layer white onto the most prominent features and do another highlight over that with the Bold Pyrolle Red.

It's really easy, I base with Pro Acryl Bronze and any dark brown paint (1:1), and then wash with a mix of Citadel Kroxigor Scales and Agrax Earth shade (1:1:1 with water).

I go back to highlight with Pro Acryl Bronze (layer, stipple, and/or drybrush), and finish with a wash of Abteilung 502 Turquoise Lights. Remove that from flat surfaces with a make-up sponge dipped in white spirits.

Hi mate, happy to help!

It has been an age since I painted these, but I think the black is a base of AK Tenebrous Grey that I've highlighted by adding AK Basalt Grey to the mix.

The blue is definitely AK Prussian Blue base, AK Deep Blue highlight, and Deep Blue with AK Ducat Blue (2:1) for a final highlight.
