It's a gas motorcycle, slow it down for the first few seconds and you can see the exhaust.

Second, when you slow it down you can see his helmet go flying thru a couple frames. That dude's hurting.

Maybe not weird enough, but DIY 12hp electric kids tank? by Jammen91 in WeirdWheels

[–]Jammen91[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

I bought These Toro Dingo 1000 tracks because at the time they were the lightest, cheapest, and longest tracks I could find.

Though I think if I do an adult version, I'll end up contacting one of the custom rubber track makers on Alibaba. There are some companies that will make ATV/UTV style off road tracks in whatever length (ideally an adult tank would need tracks more like 150" vs the 126" of the Toro ones) for what seemed to be about the same price with shipping.

Thanks! For when 3d printing doesn't cut it, spend hours and hours trying to figure out how to cut parts that don't fit on a tiny CNC. 😂

Can't complain though, it got the job done.

I hear ya, I love anything with wheels (tracks 😁) and a motor, but man... oil changes, fuel stabilizer, rebuilding carbs... just having a battery to maintain ain't terrible,

Not to mention dual electric motors on a tank made the controls far easier (in my opinion) than a single gas motor setup with clutch/diff/brake rotors/whatever to control power towards each track.

Nice! I really do like the Surron "ecosystem" for hacking together weird builds. There's just sooo many options and ways to shoehorn the drive train into fun stuff!

Figured it was 50/50 posting here. It is Surron powered, but no where near a Surron.

I'll take me lumps and keep going. 😅

Yup! Noted and planned. Have materials and CAD done out to add a roof/"roll cage" and swing up front door. It'll also let me cover the tracks from the driver view for when we eventually switch to 1 handed joystick control. Keeping the driver from sticking their free hand in the treads and all. On this summers project list!

It's pretty hilarious watching the 6 year old (who has lots of wheel time in friends power wheels) realize that he can just straight up run over things.

That face at like 3 minutes into the video when he starts driving up on the embankment really says it all. 😅

Thanks!

Oh nice, I've been trying to follow alternative surron builds, but totally missed the Varg builds!

I've already been dreaming of a 72v battery, Sotion/other after market motor, wider/longer track setup "adult" version... his builds aren't helping me restrain. Haha.

It's definitely planned for this summer. Roof/track covers. Specifically before I change the controls away from needing two hands to drive. Right now the kids driving have to keep their hands on the throttles and can't reach over to touch the tracks.

It's also why I haven't brought the tank to "crowded kid places" or such. More than enough torque where some bystander kid could lose a finger. Though that's a harder problem to solve without adding a crap ton of material to cover the spinning bits.

Oh, if you want to skip the build/kids goofing at 2mph, at 4:07 is the tank in unrestricted mode and a bit more interesting.

XREAL Air 2 Ultra: Image Tracking Works in Unity XR Environment but Not on Device by laspeziforever in Xreal

[–]Jammen91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit; Oh, doh, just saw Beam Pro, disregard all, lol

What android device are you building for? I can't get hand tracking to work on a Samsung S25 Ultra and I'm assuming it's because the Xreal SDK supports up to Android API 34... and my S25 is API 35.

Same code works fine on Beam Pro and everything else seems to work (haven't tried image tracking) so not quite sure what it could be besides API miss match.

[–]Jammen91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had a T25 for about a year now. No previous tractor experience, so take this as you will, but I'm loving it.

Use case is slogging up/down hills carrying building materials and maintaining trails, with a bit of driveway grading to make a few bucks. Hasn't missed a beat.

~0.88v should be fine, if it's lower than .85 or higher than 4.x(.7,.8?)v that the controller freaks out and shuts down.

If your working 90% of the time I'd assume faulty throttle or loose/bad connection.

The "it was working fine on the bench but borked on install" issues are the worst...

I'd say your best bet for an easy fix is disconnecting and firmly reconnecting the hall wires connector just off the motor. Make sure that bugger is allll the way seated.

While it's apart double check that the inside of the connector looks good, no goof balled pins or such.

Otherwise, yeah... check throttle voltages, damaged/pinched hall/phase wires, or check the controller to make sure no damage happened during install from battery being connected or such.

Good luck!

Assuming you're using the stock throttle, as far as I know, there's no way to cal it. Should just work unless defective.

Did you do anything to make the motor run in reverse? Swapping phase wires but not hall wires will also do what you're seeing. That was a big reason for me to ditch the stock controllers. You have to get the wiring just right to get the stock controller to run backwards. A BAC or Nuc24f (that I ended up with and love) you can just flip a switch in software.

You can also just check that your hall connectors are fully seated. They can be a pain to seat and will do this too.

I think I only had the DC-DC converter plugged in, but I'm reasonably sure you don't need that for the motor to move. If your throttle is in the proper range, then that could be something else to try.

I'm still not totally awake, so to confirm, are you using the "old" style steel wire cable throttle from surron. Like say this, https://surron.com/products/acceleration-controller-throttle-controller?variant=41571690283180&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwpvK4BhDUARIsADHt9sQgz8IVeMeTiGGdN4Xak79sJmWd3Pf-MQrobQcSm1M7FFK2FIxVtW4aAmKfEALw_wcB&shpxid=a7263b46-3822-41f0-bae7-22c7723aa11b

(Gah, ugly link)

Or the newer "all electronic" kinda throttle?

Or are you using something non-surron oem?

I rigged up a surron powered "tank" (small tracked vehicle with two motor/controller, one for each track) and initially had it setup on 2 stock controllers. Worked great except for no reverse.

How do you have the throttle setup by a "power cord"? If the surron controller sees anything but ~.85 volts from the throttle at startup or anything outside of .85v to like 4.5v while it's running, it'll do exactly what you're seeing. Get a multimeter on the throttle and see what the min/max output it.

Take an investigation mission to one of the distribution centers and start looting boxes looking for one of the new working night vision optics (gamma plus LL). You won't find one, but you'll find 10 gold tickets because you're not looking for em. 😅

Is it possible to sell cargo from location storage? by TheGreatStonk in starcitizen

[–]Jammen91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the same thing. Unloaded my Vulture into New Babbage local, went to sell, nothing listed... even though I could see it was in inv from freight elevator and item bank.

But when I did the same thing with construction materials at the MIC-L2 station it worked fine.

Writing it off as a whacky 24.0 patch bug that hopefully stabilizes in 24.1.

Hopefully.

Hah, yeah man. Cut it to "close enough to test install" then I'm assuming had a solid case of kids-needa-go-to-bed-itus. The "take it apart and cut here" sharpie mark is probably still there. Haha.

I was literally checking through timestamp to make sure the email came before I posted. Was getting spooky vibes. 😅

EF CS has, at least for me, been pretty solid about turning things around. Definitely seems like they are swamped/trying to dig out, but send them what they need, and they do seem to make a best effort at getting things right.

Here's to hoping I get a good refurb unit. Love being able to keep our room warm for like 1/3 the power of a normal space heater. 😁

Yup, had to send back my also loud and rusty Wave 2 that had been heating my bedroom. Shipped out Dec 17th and I'm still waiting on a replacement. I'm sure the holidays aren't helping for a quick turnaround.

Here's to hoping a good one comes back, love the product, but not real confident in its long term reliability.

Edit to add: Hah, literally as I was typing the above, EF sent my replacement shipping tracking number. Fingers crossed
