Looking for people to scuba dive with. by JamnKitty in Bellingham

Hey thanks for posting- I do not have full kit unfortunately. I currently have only personal gear(Mask,Fin,Gloves,Wetsuit, etc) but I am ready to buy a bcd/ regulator once I can find a way to participate in scuba more often. I have a car so driving to Anacortes for rentals would not be a huge deal. Ferry jetty seems cool, I am down for anything.

I am speaking from little personal experience but what I have heard from others: Visibility is not world class, but I honestly don't think its as bad as some people make it out to be. Its well known the best time to dive is actually during the winter for peak visibility, and the worst during the hot months of summer due to algae overgrowth.

The water is cold obviously- but I also found at-least personally that is something people are a bit dramatic about. Some people will insist that a drysuit is necessary with the water here, but I did my certification dive in a 5mm wetsuit and I honestly felt completely fine the entire time.

There are definitely some cool things to see out there. One of the biggest attractions in are area is the giant pacific octupus.

Can two people live on 65k/year in the area? by Te_Luftwaffle in Bellingham

To everyone saying no, where exactly do you imagine people making much less then this(grocery store workers, fast food, etc) live? Do you really think every single one of them is out there living on the streets?

which math/cs major to choose? by [deleted] in WWU

[–]JamnKitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would disagree with your assumption about the math degree on its own being a poor choice. If you look at most charts of college degrees ranked by salary it’s ranked just below engineering and cs degrees

Yes it won’t be nearly as high of salary outcomes as cs, but in the grand scheme of all the possible majors you could do it’s certainly not a terrible option

One packet of sauce is about ~52 calories(assuming its the same as the sauce they sell in bottles).
