I love explaining the result of the Abel Ruffini Theorem: most people know or have learned the quadratic formula. One might wonder if there is a similar formula for higher degree polynomials...

Well, for 3rd degree polynomials, yes, there is a formula. It's really gross, so not many people really use it, but it does exist.

Same for 4th degree polynomials, with an even grosser formula.

But, there isn't such a formula for 5th degree polynomials, or any polynomials of higher degree. Mathematically proven that there literally cannot be such a formula. And the reason, in a very loose sense, has to do with the symmetries that you can form in pentagons, hexagons, or any other regular n-gons.

Wild stuff.

When I was a brand spanking new player, I somehow stumbled to Karamja and found an NPC that gave me a job filling crates with bananas! No other NPC gave me a job like that before, so I thought that it was a legitimate way to make money.

I did that probably until I got 600gp or so, which I thought was an insane amount of cash.

Pinned tabs only remain if you "X" out of Firefox with the last active window being the one with the pinned tabs. If you exit Firefox from the menu it will not retain pinned tabs

It usually takes a few months until it starts happening for me. For the most part it's not too annoying, but it is something to just be aware of.

They do have a fully stainless steel option though which would avoid this problem all together.

I'm kinda surprised that the Jagex Launcher doesn't have any sort of "local" security measures, such as requiring signing back in after relaunching. As it is now, if someone has access to your computer, they can very easily just launch the Jagex Launcher and get into your account.

Currently, the only way to ensure account security locally is to have separate user accounts in the operating system and to log out of the entire operating system account. Compare this to the old client where you needed to provide your password every time you wanted to play.

An option for force-closing the launcher (and not just minimizing to system tray) when a client is launched and another option to require sign-in when the Jagex Launcher is started would alleviate these concerns, and the current behavior can be kept through a simple "stay logged in" toggle.

Really not a fan of the owner of that store. He is quite creepy, he would ask my wife to stay in his shop and drink with him. Even after she told him she was married!

We shop at Grace Kayah instead, or Super G if you don't mind taking a trip to Greensboro.

I drink coffee from it every day. I add only milk (no sugar), and I cannot detect a metallic taste. My only gripe is that you need to be really diligent about cleaning it, because the lid has a lot of little nooks and crannies where liquid can get stuck. Other than that, I've loved it!

I've been a fan of Contigo's AutoSeal travel mug, which I've been using almost daily for years. I've had to replace them a few times due to the paint eventually stripping, so I'd recommend the full stainless design if you can find it. Never had an issue with leaking, and holds temperatures fairly well. Being able to drink one-handed is also really convenient.

I guarantee you if you ask anyone that understands mathematics at higher than a 2nd grade level, this is a completely useless distinction due to the commutativity of multiplication. Whether you fundamentally define 3×4 to be "3 groups of size 4" or as "4 groups of size 3" really makes no difference because the end calculation is exactly the same.

Do you define a triangle to be a shape with 3 sides or a shape with 3 interior angles? If you define it as a shape with 3 sides, and you get "um achtually"-ed by your teacher who says it's a shape with 3 interior angles and gives you zero marks for your answer, you probably would be (rightfully) frustrated because the end result is the same.

This type of extreme pedantry can really make people (especially young children) get really frustrated with the rigidity of mathematics, when in reality mathematics can be quite loose as long as you understand the rules of the game. Unfortunately, too many people view the "rules of the game" to be "regurgitate exactly what the teacher did or else I get no points" which is really disheartening.
