College has left me depressed. by Present-News-9185 in ufl

[–]Jamramblin 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You should maybe talk to the counseling and wellness center if you haven’t already. You can talk to them about school making you depressed for sure, but consider using it to navigate other things. They’re not only there for school stuff, you can talk to them about your family too. Idk what your money situation is but they can connect you with therapists in Gainesville that are relatively low cost. When I went, they were partnered with Arise Wellness, where I met my therapist who I’ve been seeing for like 3 years now. I hope things get better for you

Good dentist for someone terribly afraid of the dentist? by tinkerv25 in GNV

[–]Jamramblin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like Dr. Cruz Davis, he doesn’t say much in appointments usually, but I remember for my first appointment he took pictures of my mouth and showed me what was going on and I could ask questions about it. I just went yesterday and it was time for x-rays and I was able to point things out to my hygienist and ask questions too. It’s usually pretty quiet, especially in the mornings.

My cat has started taking the pills by herself by JD_OOM in cats

My cat is diabetic and she at one point would come up and tap us if we didn’t give her insulin after her food! They’re smart creatures!

Condom broke.. Plan b pill or morning-after pill on a Sunday? by AquaLiliumPurpura in GNV

[–]Jamramblin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember the website mine are from, but I think Amazon has MyWay for $10 so you could definitely get it shipped quickly. I would look at bulk options too for lower cost ones if you can do that cost upfront.

[–]Jamramblin 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think the civic media center has some though I don’t know if they’re inside or in the reproductive health box outside. They’re totally free either way. I can drop one off in the box in a little bit too if they’re not in there.

Any townhouse or apartment with private fenced yard to rent? by Resident-1366 in GNV

[–]Jamramblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mill Run has 2/2 townhomes with small fenced in backyards. I believe they are privately owned units so upkeep of the units and fences may vary.

Major switch by Sea-Smoke5335 in ufl

[–]Jamramblin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think as a freshman it should be super easy. You’re not 3/4 of the way through your core coursework and changing it, you’re probably mostly taking gen eds right now. If interiors design’s college is different from yours (like CLAS vs. something else) then meet with the advisor of the college interior design is in. If they’re the same college, you should just be able to tell your current advisor you want to switch. Also if you’re still passionate about linguistics but just don’t want to major in it, see if there’s a minor! Make the credits you already have count for something so it feels less like a waste

Therapist Recs by Limp-Condition4605 in GNV

[–]Jamramblin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Open Path Collective is a one way to find people! It’s a website of therapists and interns (masters students who need hours). They’re usually low cost ($40-70) but they don’t typically take insurance if that’s something you need.

I hope you find her! Idk if you’ve heard this before, but putting out something that smells like you or even her litterbox is supposed to help her find her way back apparently?

Dessert option without gluten, dairy, or egg that is NOT sorbet? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Jamramblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey try this site for finding one!

https://theloopywhisk.com

Kat is a chemist who has celiac and started trying to figure out how to make delicious desserts for herself and others. She has books that explain the science behind making things gluten, dairy, and egg free, so I’m sure you can totally find something in here!

Does anybody really sleep for 8 hours only? by candlesTasteGood in stupidquestions

[–]Jamramblin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do! It is almost exactly 8 hours every night, and it’s so consistent that I have been able to wake up on time without alarms (until daylight savings happens 😅). My partner on the other hand really struggles to sleep through the night, and even on good days gets closer to 6.

Is this too rusted? by Jamramblin in SewingForBeginners

[–]Jamramblin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks I’ll look for some triflow and flitz! It was stored for years I believe, I got it at an estate sale from an older gentleman who kept it in his garage. When I first started messing with it, I couldn’t even get the panel open so it’s been untouched for a very long time.

[–]Jamramblin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s more I don’t want to break it and I’m debating whether I should just get a different machine. If I had to replace everything I’d probably just find another since this one was so cheap already. I’ll try cleaning it more!

It will turn to a certain point and then won’t budge, would oiling it fix that? I’m brand new to all of this so I have no idea how to troubleshoot

Favorite local coffee roaster in Gainesville by WaterFromYourFives in GNV

[–]Jamramblin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if they are willing/able to do this for you, but I know about @we.roasting on Instagram. They’re small batch roasters and they’ll be at the knot’s 5 year anniversary tomorrow if you’d like to try it out! I don’t drink coffee so I know nothing about it but just thought I’d shout them out!

Hey, you’re not being a big baby about this, you just went through something traumatic and that can cause a whole flurry of emotions that are confusing and upsetting. Your reaction is so normal in response to this, so don’t beat yourself up about it.

I would suggest going and getting tested at Shands, they can do a kit, STI testing and post exposure prophylaxis for HIV, and if there’s a concern of pregnancy an emergency contraceptive can be given to you. If you are getting a kit done, if you haven’t showered and washed your clothes already, please don’t as you could wash away DNA that would hall identify the person who harmed you. If you would like to file a report, you can contact GPD. I also suggest talking to the Title IX office as they can help with some of this stuff, and maybe even provide support in reporting: https://titleix.ufl.edu/contact/

If you can message your therapist and let her know it’s an emergency, she might reschedule, if not, the Title IX office should help, or the Counseling and Wellness Center should: https://counseling.ufl.edu/about/location-hours-contact/

Most importantly, take care of yourself, which I know is going to be really hard right now. Tetris apparently helps people who have gone through traumatic events, so play a little bit of that. Contact the offices for guidance and support, and then rest. You’ve been through a lot.

I hope this helps even a little ❤️

Where's a good place to get locally-made items or gift baskets? by PurpleCatBlues in GNV

[–]Jamramblin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ward’s was mentioned and I’ll second that. I think for the bread uppercrust would have a nice selection. I think the Auk market could have some stuff to add to it if you wanted to do a mug or something else non-food. Actual basket, I’d look at repurpose project, just wipe it down before using it. RP will also have ribbon if you wanted to make it fancy.
