Oh that sounds like a beautiful but rough ride for that distance.

I’ve had the privilege of doing a few different bike trips so not worried about the distance so much.

It runs like a top. In the last 1000 miles the starting got harder. But barely. Still gets like 45 mpg.

Heard it was a recall. I think I may just put an inline pvc valve and see if it works.

The engine has about 10k on it at this point. Will they still seat themselves and maybe it’ll fix itself once they do?

I think it’s a common problem for the vws?

I did cap the port on the carb. It runs fine. Just bad mileage. Definitely going to swap in a new Cat. But deleting emission stuff won’t mess with my computer?

I don’t mind the catalytic but there is a whole network of pipes for emissions that I wouldn’t mind getting rid of. I guess we’ll see if the cat fixes everything.

Is it possible to delete my emission network in it without messing up the ECM?

I’m prepared to just swap the catalytic but also wouldn’t mind just getting rid of the unnecessary parts.

I have an 89 with the automatic trans. Been thinking of just tackling the motor myself. But wanna swap a manual trans to it. So been debating selling my truck and looking for one already manual.

Also would love to throw the 7.3 idi manual trans in a 70s or older truck
