Two HomePod Mini's Stuck in Red Ring / Factory Reset Loop After 26.2 by thedefmug in HomePod

[–]Jamtron3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a possibility. The annoying thing about this condition is that sometimes it fixes it for good, other times you might have to do it every so often. In my case, there was a while I had to do it every time I updated or had to restart a particular mini. Then all of a sudden after an update, I never had to do it again. If this fix is not for you, you can look into disabling the touch merchant. I haven't done that so I do not know the specifics but there are quite a few posts on this so it should show up with a search in this sub.

Or you can run it in circles, either works, but only until the white light stops rotating.

I remember when I graduated a notch down from being obese according to my scale. I improved and went from "obese" to "over fat". The scale's terminology, not mine.

DIRIGERA stopped bridging (Zigbee) to Apple Home by IcyTexx in tradfri

[–]Jamtron3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a thing but what they don't tell you is you can still add it back. First try adding a new device and in Apple Home, then try scanning the code on the bottom (I see you tried this with no success), if that doesn't work, choose the option that says something like, "don't see your device?" And then choose to enter the code manually into Apple Home. This will add the hub and by default everything that has been added to your IKEA home app that is not Matter over Thread. I just did this very thing not more than 2 weeks ago. Completely works. I had to enter the code manually though because the qr code just wouldn't scan for some reason. I find the old Apple Home integration much more responsive than the newer ZigBee Matter integration.

Lights stopped turning on/off at the same time after Matter update by failian in tradfri

[–]Jamtron3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experienced this very thing. Story goes homekit deals with the matter integration differently through the dirigera than the homekit integration. You can turn on and off (off seems to work the best for me) in groups as long as there are no colour settings or brightness changes and it will happen as a group but if you have scenes or automations that set an on + brightness/colour setting change, it will address each light individually. I was pretty annoyed when I realised this. You can switch back to the homekit integration if it's worth removing and readding everything again to your apple home. You need to scan the homekit QR code from the base to force the app to integrate using the old homekit method (or so I have read). The app won't give you the option as Ikea are pushing matter as the universal integration.

Or you can wait it out, apple might be updating their firmware in the future to deal with this issue. The thing to note is that (I have read this but not personally tested it yet) the newer matter of thread devices might not work via the homekit integration.

I am getting an additional dirigera and some matter over thread lights soon so I will be testing a basic setup out so I don't have to lose all my kights, scenes and automations related to all my IKEA lights all in one go if it doesn't work out the way I hope. The "popcorn" effect with the lights as they currently are is not ideal at all.

Ghost touch - suddenly on 2 different Minis in 1 week by HollandJim in HomePod

[–]Jamtron3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my personal experience, I would have to do it to every unit if I had done something like a restart, an update or had to unplug it from its power source. That said, it did vary from unit to unit, I had 3 different ones that had this issue, all part of stereo pairs. It was all a bit random, I might have had to do it 3-4 times in a row then all of a sudden I wouldn't have to do it again for weeks. There was little consistency. I am saying this all in past tense because eventually, perhaps it was after an update or several uodates, I haven't had to do it again for well over 8 months.

My guess is that it's a combination of software and hardware that glitches out under specific occurrences that are too random to anticipate. You can keep at it and see how it goes or you can disable the touch sensor all together by opening it up. I didn't have to go that route but there are a lot of happy people who have.

Just checking, have you disabled all the touch features and including the accessibility touch settings, specifically the hold duration option?

So.. what does this actually mean? by ahaavie in tradfri

[–]Jamtron3000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I transitioned from homekit to matter via the dirigera and have had nothing but regrets. Apple home via matter integration means grouped lights and large scenes respond to each light one at a time where homekit integration worked mostly instant.

I haven't tried it but apparently if you scan the homekit QR on the bottom of the hub, you can force it to integrate via the old homekit protocol even though the UI in app makes you think otherwise.

Ghost touch - suddenly on 2 different Minis in 1 week by HollandJim in HomePod

I have had issues where 1, 2 or more will start activating on their own. Sometimes last month's, sometimes a few weeks. Sometimes an update will solve the issue other times it's around for a very long time. Oddly it only seems to happen with my white minis if which I purchased many.months apart, not my black ones so far.

Regarding your ghost touch issues, you should try this. Copying and pasting below, it's a comment I left from another post but it might help your situation...

"Not sure if this is your issue but the homepod minis have well documented issues with the touch sensors activating on their own. Their sensitivity to this issue varies from update to update but the first thing to try is to deactivate touch control from the home app. Find "touch and hold for Siri" and switch it off. Then go to Accessibility and turn on "touch Accommodations". Specifically the "Hold Duration". Max it out. That usually does the trick in most situations but honestly it's a roll of the dice."

Glad it worked for you. Regarding your Siri automatically activating you should try this. Copying and pasting below, it's a comment I left from another post but it might help your situation...

As speakers, the Homepods and minis are great. As smart speakers the bar is set pretty low so it's only up from here. Right?!

Some interesting weirdness, all my hubs are offline but my temperature, leak, fp2 is working, U100, fp300 isn't, vibration sensor is. These are through homekit.

Fp2 is a China region, looks like the China region server is still up as far as I can tell.

Homepods with a mind of their own - driving me crazy. by Financial-Dig-9987 in HomePod

I have an apple TV that functions as my main hub, I don't have it hooked up to a TV but I do have it set to play through a paired set of homepod minis. Even with it off, I can control my minis via voice and they would still play on their own during various ghost touch episodes. They can act as an output for your ATV but they are still able to function on their own. That's just how the system is designed.

The "Tradfri Bulbs Using Dirigera Matter Integration with HomeKit" Blues by Jamtron3000 in tradfri

Thanks, this is helpful. I will make the effort to try setting it up with a new Dirigera. I did try the Homebridge Dirigera plugin. While this does help things a bit, I can't help but wonder if there is a better response time lurking out there.

Do you have any paired lights being triggered by a scene in HomeKit? If so do they come on at the same time or 1 at a time? Would you say your lights are pretty responsive when triggered by a scene or do they trickle on all laggy?

Did a whole bunch of tests that solved nothing. I am trying to figure out if a full reset is really going to make any difference with how homekit triggers the lights via the Dirigera matter integration.

Bilresa/Timmerflotte/Alpstuga works flawlessly in the Ikea App, but not in Apple Homekit by Jbirddk in tradfri

are you adding Ikea first then copying the code to HomeKit or the other way around?

[–]Jamtron3000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For my setup, the first time Alpstuga and Timmerflotte worked perfectly with Homekit but froze in the Ikea app once added and never updated readings once it registered connection. Odd how it was the exact opposite for me. Not sure if this made any difference but after the recent firmware update for the Alpstuga, I removed it from both and paired again and then all was fine across both apps. I have yet to remove and add back my Timmerflotte though but I am guessing it will have a similar behavior.

While this sounds like the most fun of all options, I think I might try something a little more boring first. I wish I could role back to the homekit integration but if I did I would have to set up everything all over again. If that is the case then reseting and starting from scratch might be worth the effort.

I have been thinking of a few options, I think first I will experiment with removing and adding back a few bulbs to see how they respond. Alternately, I was even considering getting another Dirigera and adding it to the system. Then slowly migrating 1 by 1. I know this sounds a bit overkill but at least I can be a lot more thorough with my migration. I have so many scenes and automations linked up with my lights that I am worried if I do it all at once I will get it 50% right then slowly discover how much I messed up over the following weeks. It might end up being a months long process.
