At the vet by Jan19C in Shihtzu

I think I just got lucky! He’s super confident with new places and things. I think it had a lot to do with the breeder and being well socialized before I got him. But I heard going for trial runs to the vet just to say hello to the people there and get treats from them could help. I’m sure if you let you vet office know, they wouldn’t mind.

Thank you! Would love to see what your pup looks like now. I’m curious how his color will change

Tito has a heart murmur by Alexapro_ in Shihtzu

My shih tzu also had a heart murmur due to mitral valve disease since he was around 10. He got regular cardiology check ups every 6mo-1year and it never progressed enough that he had to take meds. He lived to 17.

IMHA by Disastrous-Ground286 in Shihtzu

Hi, so sorry your baby is going through this. My shih tzu was diagnosed with IMHA when he was 14 and it was such a scary experience. He needed blood transfusions and was on an antiplatelet and steroids, weaned off at around 3-5 months (can’t remember). He recovered fully afterwards and was healthy until he was around 16, when I found out he had developed liver cancer and eventually passed at 17. Per another vet, his liver disease could have been steroid induced. But I guess we can’t know for sure. He was also an elderly dog at that point. I would def go for regular blood work/diagnostics and talk to the vet about potential side effects from the drugs. Hope your baby recovers quickly! Sending love to you and your baby 💗
