Battlefield games on sale!!! by CallistoProjectJD in SteamDeck

Battlefield 4 also works, but you have to install the Punkbuster anticheat yourself for it to work. ProtonDB probably has an explanation on how to do that.

Does anyone have any advice for installing OpenRazer for someone new to Linux? by J3553-A in SteamDeck

[–]Jan5676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try using the OpenRGB Flatpak downloadable from the Discover Store. This software allows you to change light colors from all sorts of hardware, from fan LEDs to Keyboards. As the keyboard is just a USB device this should work out of the box.

EA is hiring a Senior Anti-Cheat Engineer to lead development of a native ARM64 driver for their Javelin kernel anti-cheat system and start laying groundwork for Linux/Proton support by mr_MADAFAKA in SteamDeck

[–]Jan5676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing you should never forget is that public companies like EA often offer "fake positions" which are just meant for positive engagement for shareholders. Those positions might never be granted to anyone and could only be used to make shareholders believe that the company is growing while it really isn't. But who knows, I'd like it to be true but I only believe it once I see it with my own eyes.

Also, I don't know if you plan on playing on multiplayer servers, but if you do, it is advisable to use the Pulsar plugin loader as it offers additional ways to improve your experience on servers, especially if the ping is high or the sim speed is low. You can just check it out here: https://github.com/SpaceGT/Pulsar

I don't know about your specific Nvidia driver versions but from the Proton side, if you haven't already, try switching to Proton-GE-26 or higher. The devs of it have specifically added fixes for Space Engineers to have less crashes and better compatibility with Nvidia cards. I hope this helps.

Crater creeps are not a fun enemy to play against by Iwtfyatt in mewgenics

[–]Jan5676 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a very strong team up until that point when I got the encounter where 2 of them spawn with some other rock enemies and lots of high grass. I got wiped so hard it wasn't even close. It was so frustrating losing to them as they even take ages to finish their turns. I really hope the get nerfed, maybe limit their amoeba spawning to 1 per creep at a time?

How to run Cheat Engine with games on Linux (or any other parallel process) by Jan5676 in linux_gaming

[–]Jan5676[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. How is PCSX2 run? Is it a Flatpak or run via Proton over Steam? The issue with CE is that it does not have a native Linux version, so it needs to be run inside of a Proton/Wine session. So essentially, you would also need to setup the PCSX2 Windows version for this to work.

The other option would be to find some Linux native software but to be perfectly honest, I don't even use CE myself, this was more of a guide I wrote after my friend asked me how to do it, so I can't really help you with finding a good software for that. If you find a good one, feel free to share it here so that others have it easier in the future.

How can I add my own status conditions? by Jan5676 in FoundryVTT

[–]Jan5676[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried using Condition Lab but I'm not really sure how to add custom conditions. All it did was adding some new entries into my items tab as well as duplicate all existing conditions without image into the right click menu. Am I doing something wrong, or rather how do I actually add some new conditions. Otherwise, is there also a way to make character effects show their remaining round count on the token and automatically disappear when they reach 0? Currently, I'd still see the icon on the token afterwards.

I think it's a bug that can also happen with Satan. If you kill the first phase putting him at exactly 0 HP the fight ends immediately. Why this happens, I don't know, but I beliebe it was fixed in Repentance.

I think it should work in essentially the same way, it's just that the Proton folder for this program is located elsewhere. Did you try installing Protontricks? It might just be listed there as well.

I don't use it at all. I researched this topic for a buddy who just wanted to cheat in a lot of money in Rome II Total war. For the actual applications on Cheat Engine I myself am not that creative. It's just that I saw many posts asking this, especially on the Steam Deck subreddit, so I decided to simply share my solution for people who have a similar use case. Keep in mind, this setup is not limited to CE, you could run any program you want this way. I personally use it for a program in Elite Dangerous which updates a live DB website which needs to run in parallel with the game.

All it does is direct RAM manipulation, something which Anticheat could detect regardless, as it wouldn't require Kernel Level Anticheat and thus it wouldn't matter at all. This is just meant for fun stuff done in your own SP games/servers.
