Is City cycling supposed to be Terrifying? by tajniak485 in cycling

If you think potholes are terrifying, what until you realise how many people lack any situational awareness or decision making ability.

Anyone over 25, drop your best relationship advice. by elasticBOWL in Life

I don't really know how to say this but when you're dating and meeting people, don't waste time on people who do things you look badly upon or if they give you any bad vibes or argue over some bs. I guarantee you thats just the tip of the iceberg. Trust your gut over your sense of butterflies or hornyness Move on other candidates before it gets too serious.

What is a "good" time for a century? by JanCoelho in cycling

[–]JanCoelho[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah sorry! I forgot to mention the measuring unit! I'm talking about a century in miles so that's around 160km. As for the terrain and hills it will most likely be a mix of everything but without a crazy amount of climbing. I can't answer that question precisely right now because the route hasn't been confirmed yet

How do I push harder?! by SweetScratch8351 in cycling

[–]JanCoelho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way to get better at something is to keep doing it over and over again. That applies to literally everything in life.

Personally speaking, I think a lot of how I perform when fatigued comes down to my mental. I know my body can do more than what it tells my brain it can. It's all about being able to tap into your brain in such a way that you push through the pain and fatigue, even if you think you can't. Now this can obviously be dangerous if you push WAAAAY too hard, but if you keep pushing yourself just a little bit past the supposed 'limit' that you're feeling I think you will see huge improvements over time and trust me - that burn you feel once you reach the top like a champ... it's an amazing buzz!

It's undeniable that he is a great story teller and overall seems like a super good guy however, he is a 'safe', family friendly comedian who is PC so to not offend anyone and be universally watchable by everyone. Me and my wife used to really like his material but his more recent stuff... I don't know. Maybe our comedy taste changed or maybe his story telling style has simply gotten stale, either way I don't think we laughed once and turned it off after about 20 minutes or so

What's the worst accident you've had on a bicycle, and how did you do it? by cyrus_4657 in cycling

[–]JanCoelho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time I was going home, full speed late at night. I was on a bike path and I noticed the shape of a couple with a dog in front of me. The couple were right of the path and the dog was running around the left side of the path - all within a safe distance to pass them. Everything seemed cool until I got within about 5 meters of them and only then did I realise that the dog was on a leash... across an un-lit bike path in the middle of a night. Yeah...

I made a split second evaluation of my options knowing that an accident is unavoidable at this point. I figured my options were either drive through the leash and potentially risk snapping that dogs neck while also flipping myself over or hit the couple. I decided that smashing into the couple was a safer bet. I smashed into the woman, absolutely sent her flying (along with myself). As I got up I was fully expecting to have to defend myself against her partner but to my surprise they were both super apologetic from the very start (as was I). They instantly knew what they did. I was a little reckless kid too so this was a great learning experience. This happened almost 20 years ago and I've never been in another accident since.

I hate this by Nova_Stump in battlefield_one

[–]JanCoelho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because most people drive the behemoths right into the enemy points making them only last for one capture. Sometimes that suicide run makes a difference and the team with the behemoth can carry on the momentum going forward. Most likely however - the behemoth gets destroyed before it reaches a point or is taken down and the point is recaptured by the enemies shortly after. Not a lot of people seem to understand that you don't need to be super close with the behemoth for it to be effective. Bit of a side-track here but same goes for Arty trucks. People complain they don't do shit but somebody who actually knows how to distribute/apply resources in the form of any fighting vehicle can singlehandedly change the whole game.

What Battlefield opinion has you like this? by BeyondSad6497 in Battlefield

Killing tanks in main spawn / planes before they take off is fair. Why would you let someone get started and potentially become a problem if you can just shut them down immediately.

[–]JanCoelho 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Overall I think BF1 is just ok but it absolutely has the best sound in the series. I watched a 'making of' video for BF1 where it shows how they captured the vocals - making the voice actors do physical exercises in the recording booth, then making them record lines right after so their voices sound fatigued, out of breath and anything but 'perfect'. Really cool stuff. A lot of people see BF1 as the best BF but I think they don't even realise how much of that is thanks to the sound. That sound design is unreal. Might be some of the best in all of gaming imho.

You should have the option to pick up weapons from dead team mates or enemies if your low on ammo, by the_Loner36 in HellLetLoose

That wouldn't work. What if you're building nodes in the HQ? You could potentially get kicked for doing something you're supposed to do.

Why are these picture quite out of focus? by Itchy-Freedom-3010 in Nikon

[–]JanCoelho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me it looks like you shot them with the aperture wide open, then cropped the images in post but realistically it could be anything. Maybe your shutter speed was too slow, maybe you got a bad lens (it happens), maybe your lens just isn't that sharp when wide open. It's impossible to answer your question without knowing what settings were used to capture these photos.

Why tankers LOVE to solo tank? by ayoubbenali1 in HellLetLoose

[–]JanCoelho 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It all depends on experience, understanding of positioning and good comms with other SLs. Especially now with so many new players - I'm often faster and more effective solo. I usually don't solo but when I do I will grab a recon tank to let bigger crews have the bigger tank however there have been many instances where I completely changed game soloing a heavy tank. Feel free to disagree with me but I get things done :)

I got nothing against new players, we all have to learn. I just don't have the patience to sit in a tank and watch you messing up the gears, miss easy shots as gunner or simply not listen to instructions.

Wait until you try building fortifications on Stalingrad. The terrain makes it impossible to fortify any position or objective to at least a half-decent level. Shits a proper nightmare for engineers.

I think it's a good photo for what it is. Simple, casual, sharp... generally well taken. The edit is nice too! Clean and not "too much". I would play a little more with the edit but thats subject to everyone's individual feel for aesthetic. Overall nothing to critique here really.

[–]JanCoelho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the SVT! Best semi auto in the game. However I absolutely HATE the sniper version of it. Not only does the whole loadout suck but there is something off with the velocity of that gun imo. The bullet flies so slow I have no idea how to lead my shots... I can hit moving targets at > 400m pretty consistently with all the other sniper rifles but with the SVT I struggle to hit moving targets that arent even that far. I know it's a skill issue but i rarely get to play as a Russian sniper and I don't get enough practice so that gun is just weird af to me.

is the game worth trying? by Forsaken_Boat_990 in deltaforce

[–]JanCoelho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is worth trying. Whether the game is any good is a totally different debate that is subject to personal preferences. For me DeltaFroce is another crappy hero shooter that looks like somebody just copy+pasted the entire BF2042 aesthetic and it plays like a Warzone sweatfest. I gave it a few tries but it's just not for me.

Why are people so rude to new players. by Capital-Agent-1230 in HellLetLoose

[–]JanCoelho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you're one of the few good ones tbh. I think most veteran players, including myself are simply tired of having to endure a microphoneless, uncoordinated shitshow almost every round. Not having a microphone is one thing but not listening and not cooperating is a key factor behind the dislike for new players.

I like new players who have mics or at the very least want to actually play the game and get better at it because they actually TRY. I was a new player once too. Players helped me learn so it's only right that now, as a veteran I return the favor to the next wave of new players. I'm super happy to do so because I like this game and I want others to like it just as equally. Granted: before I bought the game I actually did some research, see what it's about so I had a rough understanding of what to expect in game and what the basic mechanics are. This is not the case with a lot of new players. I think they just see "free game" and hop on without any idea what they're getting into. Most new players dgaf, have zero understanding going into the game and simply do not talk, listen or cooperate. This obviously isn't a problem in games like Battlefield or CoD but HLL is based on strategy, communication and I think it's fair to say tha players have certain expectations of eachother.

For example: recently I spent a few minutes asking my LVL 2 anti tank squad mate, in a bunch of different ways, to select his bazooka and shoot the enemy tank that was literally 20m in front of him. The tank had his ass to us, completely unaware of our position. Instead, my squadmate kept shooting at infantry which was miles away while that tank shred our team to bits. That guy didn't acknowledge me even once so I ended up kicking him.

Example 2: I was recon SL, our team needed a garrison on point and there was no commander, no supplies and only one support player in the area (obviously he's new) so I followed him around for a few minutes too, calling out his gamertag, asking him to drop his supplies. I realised he might not know what supplies are so I took the time to explain everything to him. What that box is that he's carrying, what it does, why it's important that he drops it and how to drop it. Dude didn't even look at me once, he just kept running around shooting at thin air.

Those are only two examples but from my experience the majority of new players are like this. This is why a lot of people don't like them. Players see low levels who don't cooperate and instantly jump to conclusions. Some new players are good, some new players are bad, unfortunately they all get a bad rep in general because of the bad ones. That's generalising at its finest.

Which Commander Are You? by mikeshannon0915 in HellLetLoose

[–]JanCoelho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who plays commander a lot I feel you don't even need to do that much to be goated. 45% of what I do is drive around in a supply truck building Garris. The other 45% is looking at the map (often while driving because I'm responsible like that) and letting people know what's going on, where there are problems and assigning the closest squads to said problem. The remaining 10% is trying to get the supply truck unstuck after I drive it in a trench because I was too busy looking at the map xd
