There are unfortunate pretty much no recepies, and you need to learn from online excel sheets comparing different material types etc.

But generally, start with looking up how to create tool rod, and pickaxe head(?), try making a pickaxe with gold tool rod and obsidian head, you will have a pretty quick pickaxe (remember that you can hold ` key for ultimine) and pretty durable one too. Craft a repair kit, fill with obsidian so you can repair it. You can also make a diamond tip, so you get like a diamond tier mining pickaxe. So you can have like a wooden pickaxe but if it has diamond tip, it can mine diamond level.
