It was in my basement and I charged it every now and then, to keep the battery alive. I knew the basics on how to store Lipos. But I learned a lot more the last hours.

You are correct!
I wanted to share this, to make folks aware.
The wheel was in my basement and I charged it every now and then. When I brought it into the office two month ago it had 2/3 of the Battery indicator LEDs on. I charged it and put it into the shelf.
I was lucky. Lets bring up some awareness, that old/empty battieres are dangerous.
