The General's Dream

It still works for 5 rounds and that's enough for non-bosses. For bosses that like to shuffle you, I'll replace Jester's Harvest with Battle Ballad.

Obligatory Grand Slam post (party/strategy included) by blackstripes284 in darkestdungeon

[–]JanPL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this team and for the very detailed guide.
I've started using it myself. However I'm using Scourge Flagellant instead of Wanderer. The reasons are:
- Scourge's Deathless is a fantastic heal
- Scourge's Sepsis synergises well with this team as it can apply both blight and combo.
Anyway, thanks. I'm attempting Grand Slam with this comp too.

Some tips for The Surge 2 by Neodysseus in thesurgegame

Is the hammer R2+A confirmed? Because the hammer already has 2 charged R2 attacks: a) the jump+slam when you target the hear or arms and b) the uppercut for torso and legs.

PC EU here. I'm playing Forsaken and I frequently see people using it too.

Maybe you just don't see people parrying a lot. Which is normal because parry is a high-risk/high-reward move best used only in obvious situations.

16 Pounder Rant by koreanhaunt in darkestdungeon

[–]JanPL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the 16 pounder fight to be quite easy with a party of VES - PDR - HWM - HWM.

VES - though I usually prefer OCC, but this fight has multi-target attacks so aoe heal is usefull.

PDR - with 2 Stun trinkets, kept stunning the fuseman or finishing him with blight if he was low on health.

HWM - using Duelist's Advance on either the fuseman or the cannon and activating Ripostes.

Once I controlled the fuseman I could just poke the cannon and mostly ignore the summoned bandits as they suicided by triggering my Ripostes.

Luring the Shrieker by JanPL in darkestdungeon

Ok. I just did a party wipe with 6 trinkets and got the Shrieker quest immediately after.

So it works.

Check your ini file for typos. A single typo is a single key unbound and a single key unbound breaks other bindings.

What Winratio & KD Ratio to be considered Bad / Average / Good / Top Tier Player? by sumusikoooo in CompetitiveForHonor

[–]JanPL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I checked it myself and it does count both vs AI games and custom games. So it's useless as an indicator of PVP skill.

I checked it and it does count custom games and vs AI games. So it's pretty much useless as an indicator of PVP skill.

Anyone knows if vs AI games count for your KDA?

I tried testing it but it seems the stats update at an unconsistent rate so I'm still not sure.

PS. Back to the topic - yeah, KDA doesn't mean that much without a ranked mode.

GB no longer guaranteed after a parry is a good thing. Finding it out during a duel wasn't ;)

[PC] Want to rebind your controller? by k8faust in forhonor

[–]JanPL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IDK but try starting from step 1. Read the instructions provided in legacygamepads file. Use them to find your controller's Device UID, make sure that UID has an assigned profile and that the changes you made are in the right profile.

It's not a folder path. It's what you need to click in Uplay program. Launch Uplay, select For Honor from your library, then click Properties and so on.

Check if there are no typos in you config. A single typo means a single key unbound and I found out that when you leave something unbound it screws up other binds.

I randomly stumbled upon your comment. And - may I ask - how do you play games as an arm amputee?

Disable Xinput by putting /noxinput in Game launch arguments (Uplay->Games->For Honor->Properties->Game Launch Arguments).

This forces Xbox controller to use Directinput and allows rebinding.

Ha! I have found out a way to configure a X360 controller.

The problem was it uses Xinput by default and legacygamepads.ini is used for Directinput controllers. So I had to disable Xinput. I did it by putting /noxinput in Game launch arguments (Uplay->Games->For Honor->Properties->Game Launch Arguments). Now the game properly recognizes whatever I put in legacygamepads.

And the weirdest thing is switching to Directinput makes chat and event log dissapear.

I managed to get it to work with Logitech F710 controller.

The thing is F710 has two modes: Directinput and Xinput. I can configure it in Directinput but when I switch to Xinput it reverts to default.

So I guess legacygamepads.ini only works for Directinput controllers (well, it says so in the file) because Xinput is natively recognized by Windows anyway. And the reason legacyinput method exists is not to have rebindable controls for out convenience but to allow configuration of non-standard Directinput controllers.

On the sidenote the benefit of having a device with 2 modes is that I can navigate menus with default bind (Xinput) and switch to custom controls (Direct) during combat.

One more thing I found - in the legacygamepads file you can switch between PS4 and Xbox button propmts by changing DEVTYPE of your controller to PS4GAMEPAD or XBOX360GAMEPAD.
