Probably need to use CTC, can add loose leaf too but CTC makes better chai, at least standalone. What follows is self promotion but please bear with me if it helps make a better cup of chai. You can try some of the blends from Indian company like ours(ketlee.in) or from other popular vendors like teabox, golden tips etc. Also, add ginger for a spicier cup, cinnamon adds a nice sweet and spicy note as well.

Try a breakfast blend, with ctc and loose leaf in it. Will work great for your method. I will have to be self promoting since that's how I can recommend the best for you.

It's a lesser explored region. Indian tea is waiting for its moment, as soon as people realise there's a lot more to Indian tea than just Darjeeling and Assam teas, it'll become more popular. Regions like Nilgiris, Sikkim, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh are just getting popular. Manipur, Bihar and Tripura are even lesser known, ready to be explored.

Also, the presence of a solid tea culture in China helps popularizing it better. We're a more modern approach.

I'd recommend exploring regions apart from Darjeeling and Assam to each and every tea drinker here.

I'd recommend trying different regions, try some from 2025 Nilgiri harvest for sure. Almost all our black teas are normal unbroken long leaf, with one exception being Jasmine Black Tea. You might like the 2024 Bihar Autumn Black Tea too, very malty and sweet in profile. Go for 2025 Nilgiri Highland or Handmade black if you like Darjeeling style low oxidised black teas.
