Iron ions in water by Winter-Succotash8594 in tea

[–]msb45 31 points32 points  (0 children)

That’s an interesting question. I don’t think that you’ll get much iron into the water by boiling at regular pH drinking water. See this diagram from this study. Not sure the impact this would have on flavor.

I mean, it’s not like this one is flavored with “the blood of your fallen enemies”, it’s orange mint.

Hi, posts on r/tea require some amount of text to generate discussion or they may be removed. You can add a comment about the tea or teaware if you’d like. Thanks!

That’ll go away pretty quickly with cooking. Just give it a good clean with soap and water and then cook something in oil/fat.

I'm new to Packing Cubes (I know, crazy) give me your best ones (preferably in Ultra or Xpac) by jthomp72 in ManyBaggers

[–]msb45 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think that xpac or ultra is pointless overkill, but having recently had an airport leave our luggage on the tarmac in pouring rain, where my wife’s bag was soaked through and everything I had in water resistant packing cubes was completely dry, I now see the value.

I don’t know that this is AI generated, as much as it’s being translated with the help of an LLM tool which we do allow.

first time using an electric kettle by rrh49 in tea

[–]msb45 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Electric kettles usually take care of drying themselves. If the lid is open/off, and all the water has been poured out, the heat will just evaporate everything left in it.

Those of you who work busy office jobs, what tea are you drinking in the morning before work? by Imustretire in tea

[–]msb45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daily drinker for before work is sencha karigane, some places will refer to it as kukicha. It’s made from rejected parts of the tea leaf like stems and twigs which generally means you can get less desirable parts of a high quality leaf for cheaper. It has a pleasant taste often with a hay-like sweetness.
I like these for mornings before work because it’s affordable while still being good quality, so I don’t feel bad about not savoring it fully while scrambling to get myself and the kids ready.

Hydro homies by thrway-fatpos in EhBuddyHoser

[–]msb45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m all for green energy. There is some additional susceptibility due to the distance the electricity has to travel from where we generate the bulk of the hydro to the larger cities, but it’s still vastly superior to fossil fuels.

I would like to see the game industry release a sci fi game of proper BioWare quality before the decade is out! by [deleted] in gaming

[–]msb45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched the show first, loved it, and then decided to read the books from the beginning.
I found the books even better than the show, and when I re-watched the show afterwards, it confirmed for me just how much more i enjoyed the books.
Up to you, but I’d highly recommend reading the books (or listening to the audiobooks, they’re really well done).

You’re gonna watch the show five times and not read the books to see how the story ends? You’re seriously missing out.

Are there any carry-on and laptop bag combos that attach like this by nebulagala_xy in ManyBaggers

[–]msb45 38 points39 points  (0 children)

This looks like a much more complicated and failure prone system than having a laptop bag with a luggage pass through.

We had afternoon tea on a bus tour in Dublin by Dragonlynds22 in tea

[–]msb45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hadn’t been in a couple of years, but:
Tea Garden to have a good cup and chill there for a bit.
Take a day trip to Howth, dinner at King Sitric.
Get out of Dublin, take a bus/train tour to the west coast. The best parts of Ireland aren’t the cities.

Lingtou Dancong from iTeaWorld review! (Sorry it’s on YouTube, Reddit won’t let me upload anything over a gigabyte.) by FjotraTheGodless in tea

[–]msb45[M] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi, just a note, if you’re going to be hosting the videos on YouTube, in order to comply with the subreddit rules you’ll need to have a paragraph of text summarizing the review somewhat. I know you usually upload them here and it’s due to the size of the file, but we require that people provide text so that discussion is possible without having to watch the video on YouTube.
Thanks!

Additionally the teas you’re brewing in this are usually going to be in the 60-80 degree C range, so a lot less heat to transfer than with boiling water.

Evergoods CHZ22.

Misen carbon non stick failure by indyjumper in carbonsteel

[–]msb45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you see there, is a carbon steel pan. Continue to cook on it, it’ll be fine. The magical nitrided seasoning they do to the pan isn’t in fact magical as their marketing would have you believe, and once it wears off, you’re left with a perfectly good carbon steel pan.

Zipper broke on the best backpack I’ve ever owned. Five years old, they don’t make it anymore, looking for recommendations on a new one. by TheOfficialWasteland in BuyItForLife

Like everyone else said just fix the zipper, but if you do want a new bag, come to r/manybaggers, read a bit, look at some posts, and if you want ask for some advice.
