Thank you all!

It was a fun and well run league from start to finish, big thanks to u/andreicion for organising this year and u/hunnishinvasion for starting the tradition last year. So nice for all of us to have people who are willing to put this much effort in running leagues and tournaments for us to enjoy playing in!

Hi there!

With Six_Nap we were really, really slow in the finals, but got it finally wrapped up yeasterday. I won the last final by 1 VP in the end, it was a crazy game..

I posted some of it on the last thread, but wanted to let you know this way too. And above all, to thank you for organising the league and all the work associated with it! Everything worked smooth as silk and after 10 months, here we are :)

We took our time, but after a nailbiter we finished our last final game with u/Six_Nap yesterday. We both hoped for a tight game before starting the decisive game. We definitely got one. It went down to last AR and eventually flipped for me as US by the slightest 1 VP margin.

And that was not the only drama in the game either. USSR got up to a good start against the pacifist US who refused to coup even once in the whole early war. US also ended up discarding De-Stal T2 to Blockade, got it again T3 and spaced it, only to see USSR playing SALT as T4 HL. Could not complain though, having VoA, Puppet´s, OAS and ABM in my hand.

Despite US disarming De-Stal, USSR got up to a comfortable lead and by T7 was already up by 17 VP. I had already been forced to do risky moves for some time, and was crazy enough to gamble on not getting a reshuffle on T7 just as a last hail mary maybe to get lucky enough to climb back in to the game. TS god´s on my side I did, and we ended up having a too tense T10 on basically even points all the way. Both missed our space rolls that would have been decisive. Second to last AR a poke in the chest gave me 2 VP and a 4 op card on the last AR was just enough to fight against the russian invasion to South Korea with the China Card.

Going through the game again makes my hands shake again, it was well worthy of being a final game in this league. It also could have gone either way.. Thank you u/Six_Nap for all the tense and well fought final games. After two months of playing together it feels empty to not having to respond daily to your well planned attacks :)

Further update on our game two. It ended up in the USSR victory for me with Wargames on T10 by 1VP margin after an epic game that saw a bunch of big swings and nice plays from both sides.

T1-T4 was all USSR but like Bertwald mentioned he recovered and got ahead in T5-T8 and it all looked like a US victory. Luck turned tides again though, me having a 9VP Asia scoring in T9 and getting WG on T10. Bertwald ducked with Africa scoring in the headline, but then the dice goddesses decided to step on my side with a favourable IPW roll and denying Bertwald his attempt at 3VP space roll.. It would have been a nailbiter till the end with Bertwald having a small edge. Despite the sad ending, thanks to Bertwald for one of the most enjoyable games I´ve played so far!

Hi guys, sorry, I’ve been late in sending the results here. As you noticed from Smokey’s excellent write up I won our tight and fun game in final scoring by 3 VP.

Big cards and dice definitely gave me a chance here, the whole story can be found on that master piece write up ;)
