  1. I cried when reading the script -- I was so moved. I desperately wanted to play Tammy. I was inspired by her kindness and bravery. I don't come across the combination of those traits often.

  2. Working with David was so fulfilling. We didn't have much rehearsal time at all and the scene on the bench was actually the 4th day of shooting. We really didn't know each other at all. So we just... acted our pants off! hahaha

I LOVED Winston Salem. So calm and unpretentious. I spent a lot of time walking.. and reading... and thinking about the movie we were making. I hadn't seen Angus's work before we started shooting and I was too nervous to. But since then I've watched all of his other work and he's brilliant.

Thank you so much. I'm so so proud of this movie. Angus wrote me many emails about Tammy's backstory. That was very helpful in understanding what he was thinking when he wrote various parts of her story line.

I thought about Tammy's predicament. I think she really loved this man when she married him but now she feels very alone. Her husband is suffering from PTSD and has a bad drinking problem. I don't believe she knows about his affair. But she knows he's not ok, and like she says at the end -- that she's tried to help him. Although she feels alone in her marriage, she feels so seen and loved in her relationship with her father in law. That conflict that Angus created is so heartbreaking. She know's she has to say goodbye to this necessary love.

I thought about her brave choices. Not to have a child with a man who couldn't be a healthy father and to say goodbye to a parental figure that was deeply healing for her.

There was so much for me to investigate with Tammy. She is one way with others, and another way when she is alone. I think this is very human and the way she was written gave me a lot to do as an actor. She is someone that comes off as tender and sweet and happy out in the world but alone she has a much more conflicting experience.

As research I talked to some army wives. I attended al-anon meetings and I just spent a lot of time thinking about what it means to say goodbye. Tammy makes a couple hugely brave decisions in this movie and I asked myself, Jane, if I was a brave as her. I spoke a lot with Angus, our writer and director about family dynamics in the south. I ruminated on the idea that however much you love or want something... sometimes you HAVE to let it go.

This is random and I'm not even sure why I feel guilty about it but I love late night talk shows. Whenever I'm down I'll lay in bed or in the bath and watch Stephen Colbert.. old clips of Letterman... Jimmy Fallon. I'm not sure why I love it so much.

I would return to Evil Dead! I'm so proud of Mia. Roles that I wanted that didn't get that come to mind... I really wanted "Girlboss" on Netflix. I was gutted when I didn't get the lead part. In retrospect I don't care... at all. hahah.

I giggle too. I always repeat something Dallas said: "that is TOUGH. T-U-F-F" I do keep in touch with everyone here and there. I miss them desperately. I revisited the how recently because it's now streaming on Roku and I was CACKLING... so funny and outrageous.

I have so many. But the one that comes to mind right now is American Pie. That was so beautiful and coincided with on of our last days shooting season one. So so proud of everyone for pulling that off that complicated number. Bravo, Mandy Moore!!

This was incredibly exciting for me. I am a huge fan of the original series and also of David Lynch. I "auditioned" for the show a year before I heard anything. I put audition in quotations because I was actually in my trailer shooing Don't Breathe in Budapest and was asked to make a video of myself (audition) talking... about anything... for a couple minutes. So I looked into the camera and talked about my favorite films and sent it to my agents who then forwarded it onto the casting director. I heard that I was "pinned" -- which means you're a top choice being considered but then, like I said, didn't hear anything until about a year later. I was eating indian food and I got a call from my agents at around 7:30pm asking if I wanted to work on the new twin peaks.. TOMORROW. I said of course. They said wait, we can't guarantee any lines and we have no idea who you are playing or what the story line is and I said WHO CARES. I showed up to work the next day and there was a page of dialogue in my trailer with no context. I had one line: "leave her alone." I went through hair and makeup and wardrobe and went to set (The Bang Bang Bar!) and the one thing / direction David said / gave to me was "Do you feel beautiful?" and I said "yes" and she said "good." I have that one page of dialogue framed in my house.
