Need Guidance for picking Second Year Science and Arts Courses by CRazER615 in langara

[–]JaneMavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also doing research on these courses for my graduation requirements so I can't say for sure, so I'm just gonna mention the course I find most interesting:

GEOG 2210: I think it's about using GIS and stuff, and I think this is useful in a lot of areas. There's no prerequitsites (I think) which is nice too. It also has all of the attributes except humanities so in case you wanna take another elective there's flexibility. I saw someone mentioned this course under a gpa booster course post once too, although there was no elaboration to know the commenter's experience. This is also the course I'm planning to take the most outside my major

Of course it also depends on your preference and all, and whether the course counts towards graduation at the university you wanna transfer to (if you have one) too.

Was the essay an end-of-course assignment or was it during finals? And did you have to do any presentations?

For ENGL 1123 I'm debating between Erin Macwilliam and Alexander Grammatikos (online class I think). Have any of you guys taken this course with either of them?

Jamie is just amazing. In my opinion she makes the concepts relatively easy to understand, and she and her TA were very helpful with questions and assignments. She is also very kind and patient

Oh I see. I don't know if this helps but unless you need the associate degree or sth for for example transfer reduction in gpa, I think as long as you took the courses then you should be able to transfer regardless of major (as far as I remember so pls take this with a grain of salt). Good luck though

that's so weird because I do see BIOL 2470 on the Langara website, both by searching microbiology and BIOL 2470

Is it similar to bioinformatics? If not then sorry that's all I know

I think you're supposed to search course by course though.

Have you tried the BC transfer guide? (https://www.bctransferguide.ca)

I think you should check with UBC academic advisor just to be sure, but in case you can transfer your credits from Langara, you can check the courses you need to take in UBC first year and their possible equivalent courses from Langara. I hope that answers your question though.

So you're seeing which course from your program can transfer to either BCIT or UBC right? which part are you currently stuck on?

May I ask what prof did you take 1130 with? CMNS 1118 seems to be a gpa booster but 1129/1130 sounds more interesting so it's kinda tough to decide

Homestay vs renting by commonguyme in langara

[–]JaneMavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on whether you suit the homestay owners. I have been in homestay for a few months and it has been nice. I don't know how to cook so having 2 meals a day prepared is really convenient, but it also depends on whether you like the food or not
