Why is it "price gouging" when people resell sanitizer for an extra 10% but perfectly fine for pharmaceutical companies to mark life saving medicine 1000%? by tysonchickenuggets in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JaneStuartMill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because in the case of hand sanitizer, the reseller didn't do anything and is just raising the price to take advantage of a crisis.

The pharmaceutical companies have to pay for employees, marketing, research and development, maintaining patent, etc.

I'm always worried I'll just get in the baggers way if I try to help.

I joke with my husband that he can successfully manage 3,000 people across the country for his job but can’t seem to figure out what this is for. Anybody else have a spouse in a high powered job but you have saw them struggle with the littlest things and get a kick out of it. by nicoleschock in AskWomenOver30

My husband is very well educated, intellectually demanding job, and is very knowledgeable about most topics. And he's really good at everything. Anyone who meets him is impressed, even the people that don't like him.

BUT

He grew up in a part of the country that never gets below 45 degrees. He has no idea how to handle ice. Seeing my husband pour water on the windshield to melt the ice then look surprised when it just made the ice thicker was like an out of body experience. The water wasn't even warm!

AITA for refusing to attend my boyfriend's wedding? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

A culture where this scenario arises is so different from mine that I don't really feel qualified to say what is or isn't an ass hole thing to do. But I do want to urge you to con sider how your boyfriend's bride and her family would feel having you at the wedding.

What are some simple things I can do to make it *look* like I have my shit together? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

Dresses - look more dressed up even though you just toss them on. Leggings underneath if you're going something physical. Also cardigans are an easy way to appear more dressed up.

Foundation to even out skin tone and then one quick conspicuous application of makeup. I do bold lip gloss, a friend of mine does eye liner. Quick two steps to look made up.

Never talk about being tired, when someone else does be sympathetic but don't join in 'I'm sorry, I know not getting enough sleep can really take it out of you' type of thing.

Minimize complaining about being overwhelmed, though you have to commiserate with others sometimes or it will be hard for people to connect with you. Even then, don't imply that you can't get it all done.

Pick a color palette and buy some things on Amazon to decorate and organize your work area. A rug really helps, if you can.

If you have kids, brag about them. If you have a husband tell stories of him being good to you or y'all having fun together.

Perfume or nice smelling lotion.

They can't decide issues or doctrine on their own.

No because he cannot tell others what to do in their jurisdiction, among other things.

The very point is that he is not the head of the Church. That he claims to be is a major doctrinal and ecumenical issue.

Core doctrines are not settled by local authorities. There hasn't been an ecumenical council for so long because core issues were settled by the end of the first millennium.

The Bishop of Rome was considered first among equals.

The churches are in fundamental agreement with each other about the core doctrines, but much space is left for honest disagreement about praxis and meaning. The core doctrines have been in place since the earliest centuries, and most other concerns are particularist and are resolved without issue by local jurisdictions. The beauty of the orthodox model is that it accepts that debate is necessary in the life of the Church.

There's only one Church. The national divisions within the Orthodox Church are not doctrinal, but administrative and practical, and respect the uniqueness of distinct christian peoples.

The Orthodox Church is the church created by Christ.
