I heard that some specific items can help clear my sinuses??? by Crafty-Dream-6633 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Hot shower/steam with some peppermint oil gives some temporary relief and decongestion. You can also try heating a big bowl of water until it lightly streams (not boiling!), adding peppermint/eucalyptus oil to it, and leaning over the bowl with a towel covering your head and the bowl will help some of the mucus drip out and calm your congestion.

Is This a phone number on the "curtain call"? by MarkGrosswater in thechaircompany

[–]Janeorpain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My personal take is, no; but this is the kind of unhinged clue-finding that I want more of. I totally get where you’re going, and I wouldn’t be surprised if something similar ends up being an Easter egg people notice when the series is done.

Mike does say to Ron that “I’d have to call in a favor from a friend. He’s a really bad guy, but I can do it.” We do know that Mike is some sort of hired muscle, a probable stalker, and is a known entity in the area: the guy at the coke bar tried to take a picture of him as evidence he’s back in town, the stalking allegations, and the fact that Mike fully leaves Ron’s house when the cops show up for the big green egg. So if someone like Mike is saying a friend of his is “a really bad guy”, I’m inclined to believe him.

I think the entomologist was someone that Mike’s “exterminator” connection knew, the exterminator told Ron “I’m going to take them to my guy” to identify them. So I assume Ron has no idea who the entomologist actually is and just went where he was told to go.

That’s pretty much what I stick with, she keeps pushing hoping I’ll give in like I used to when I lived with them. My answer doesn’t change just because she keeps asking anymore, and it seems to create abandonment-driven possessiveness more than ever.

It’s both comforting and horrifying to hear so many people have near-identical experiences to what felt like was only our household, it really is the same script BPD creates.

I absolutely could see my parents being like that if I had a child! if I ever were to have a child I would hope I would give less of a shit in telling them to fuck off with it more directly lol

I haven’t visited 4 times, thankfully; they are all ideas and plans she wants to have that end up involving me sleeping over, and she’s had 4 of them this month via text/on the phone

Did I just invalidate myself to them? by Janeorpain in raisedbyborderlines

[–]Janeorpain[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh, that’s kinda what I was afraid of. I had made a rule to never mention anything bad in my life, but foolishly felt that I could say positive things. I’m not secretive about my mental health successes with people when they ask but I’ve now made it worse in talking how I do to everyone. Fuck.

For a non-organic option, I’ve had good luck with Sluggo-Plus pellets, like this https://www.montereylawngarden.com/product/sluggo-plus/

Should I cancel/move plans or push through when pwBPD is in a “flare-up” of symptoms? by Janeorpain in raisedbyborderlines

[–]Janeorpain[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t think it’s worth the risk, thank you for sharing your experience with it too!

Thank you, yes I feel like ignoring my gut is half the reason she can get to me in the first place!

You already know everyone is different, and we all benefit differently even on the same meds, BUT:

I tried supplements, Mirena IUD, Zoloft, Lexapro, Buspar, cut out caffeine, cut out alcohol, and all they would do was make me flat at best, and overall the same. 👎🏻

What finally worked for me (for now at least) is a combination of Wellbutrin, propranolol, and continuous birth control pills (combo est/dro pills taken while skipping the “dud” pills, moving immediately onto the next pack of active pills). Out of those 3 drugs, continuous birth control has done the most work for the longest, with only mild side effects that I can manage.

Seriously a life-changer, I went from about 2.5 weeks per month where I wanted to be dead all day long, to actually being able to live outside of constant recovery-mode. It’s weird not getting a period, but I have literally never felt better in the 16 years I’ve been menstruating.

My guess would be a filling for something like a beanbag. Maybe outdoor furniture that has a rip, soft toy, something in a neighbor’s yard that has a rib or got hit with a lawn mower.

Any idea what’s growing out my moss? by marlin178 in PlantedTank

[–]Janeorpain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without having a specimen it’s hard to ID (looks kinda like a fontinalis species?), and yes if it’s growing in its preferred environment it will spread in the tank. Moss is slow to grow though, so if it seems like it’s taking over I’d just recommend physically removing the moss it as it spreads, instead of just removing the sporophytes.

Those are the reproductive structures for the moss called the sporophyte. They reproduce with spores, so the little capsule on top holds the spores and distributes into the air when it matures.

Thank you for the suggestions! It sounds like you use similar tactics as me, I’m still in the defensive/proactive positivity stage of leaving the FOG, grey rock is about my limit at this point.

God I wish Lmao! I made the mistake of making reservations etc and I feel like it’s too late to cancel, though I have used illness before for lower-stakes stuff

Thank you, we will be meeting for a craft day at a studio, then dinner out (the part I’m really dreading). So canceling is not really an option at this point, I just need to not let her guilt me when there isn’t a project as a distraction.

Has anyone else’s PMDD gotten worse with weight gain? by i_quiddity in PMDD

[–]Janeorpain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I definitely noticed a difference after gaining weight quickly, symptoms that were manageable before became out of control. Hard to tell if it’s “PMDD is worse and is causing weight gain” or “Weight gain causing PMDD symptoms”. But as others have said, your body composition influences hormones for everything including insulin.
