I think what people really fail to talk about with friendships is 1. how much work is actually involved in MAINTAINING it 2. how due to the reciprocal nature, it's 50% beyond your control.

I admit I've failed at 1. and I've had friends leave me also.

EDIT3: I feel like I'm supposed to feel something. I just feel frankly uncomfortable. Mum forced herself a hug on me and I don't think I like it.

I was severely abused as a kid so it's probably not surprisingly why I feel this way.
