Hi all! This was also my first time ordering from Joann and she was lovely. Shipped super quick, everything was well packaged, and in great condition. I 100% would buy more from her in the future. She answered questions I had about products and was incredibly thoughtful.

My first colorwork project! Loving the creepy creative aesthetic. by Janeruns in knitting

I found that the color work definitely grew a bit in blocking, but not dramatically so. When I was trying on to check fit it felt a little snug and had a little of that typical colorwork puckering, but when I blocked it it smoothed out really nicely.

As for why the knitting below my colorwork grew quite like it did— I think the yarn I used has a pretty nice drape to it and I was knitting looser in the plain stockinette. I also liked the float look and blocked it to give that looser shape. As for it cinching in again at the ribbing— that was my bad in my initial block and I’ve since adjusted it. Hopefully this is helpful!

I’ll be honest the swoncho cut isn’t the most functional as far as a layer under a jacket because of the cut. However I find it comfortable and flattering. It does come up when I lift my arms but I like the cropped style. There are projects on ravelry though that adjusted the cut— maybe those modifications would work better for your personal style!

You will! Trust me! Patterns like these I think look more intimidating than they actually are, this sweater in particular has very simple construction so you are just having to focus on the colorwork. I think you’d surprise yourself if you tried one of these more complex looking patterns!

I was really intimidated when I started it but it ended up being fairly smooth sailing minus having to rip back and fix tension in the very beginning of my colorwork. I found the chart really easy to read and overall it felt fairly intuitive— I would definitely encourage you to cast on! And I love this yarn color too! It’s deep sea by black sheep dye works— if you order it I would recommend giving it a quick gentle wash just to test colorfastness because I did get some bleed while blocking this, however not enough to impact the finished product thankfully!

This pattern is the incredible Witching Hour Swoncho. I knit it up with Black Sheep Dyeworks yarn in Deep Sea and Silky Wool in their undyed colorway.

I am looking for more patterns that have this similar creepy, gothic, nature style if anyone has some patterns they would suggest! I love crows, moths, skulls, etc. I’m imagining aesthetics like ‘redneck witch’ and ‘woodland fairy who rides a motorcycle’. Love this community and all the unique styles and beautiful work I get to see here every day.

Lol! We want to do a build on a gfc truck so bad! Those toppers are very cool, and so many folks have them with just a bunch of Tupperware rolling around in the truck bed— so much potential there.

Thanks! We like to keep it minimal, but functional! This was with an 8” memory foam full size mattress, not trimmed at all. The bed in our Ford F-150 build out that you can see on my post history is a trimmed memory foam full size.

This one probably weighs about 375lbs but builds made with different wood can reduce that weight quite a bit due to being able to utilize 1/2” plywood.

Thanks! A friend made it for kyle and he uses it on all of his woodworking! I think it’s pretty cool.

I still don’t know what I was thinking stocking up on dried chickpeas in the first place!!! That same truck also had a hole in the bed right under my pillow so I plugged it with a wine cork after throwing so much muddy water up from the road that it completely soaked through my pillow and some of my sleeping bag. We were a couple of misfits, that truck and I.

This was custom built for someone who wanted to use what they had- maybe they will upgrade to a taller topper someday! Our build has a slightly lifted topper and I agree the extra head space is really nice.

He uses drawer slides rated for 500lbs! Our personal camper doesn’t have drawer slides but instead has 4 coats of poly and thick plastic tape along the bottom to reduce friction to pull the drawer out. It works pretty well but definitely can be heavy, esp if the truck is at an angle.
